The song of the Longbeards

The fathers were first, Durin was born,

To him their lives they have sworn,

The mountains were high, the rivers clear,

The Longbeards lived in no worry or fear.

They started to build, they started to mine,

Golden veins through stone would shine,

The dwarves rised there in glory and fame,

Khazad-dum was their kingdoms name.

In prosper they were, riches of jewel and gold,

Strong grew their realm, their ancient hold,

Their halls ran endlessly long and far,

In places deep where shined no moon or star.

The dwarves mined down, kept digging deep,

They awoken something foul from sleep,

A Barlog of Morgoth, the shadow dark,

Fire raged through the halls from this spark.

The dwarves came at it, stood their ground,

Their battlecries were the loudest sound,

But they couldnt beat its flaming mane,

At the end it was named Durin's bane.

And after ages long of roaming halls free,

From their sacred home they had to flee,

It was named Moria, in its ruined might,

They dreamt of the day they would again fight.

The realm was lost, a forgotten land,

But a day will come when dwarves again stand,

For now they wait, in the mountains shade,

The sons of Durin shall never fade.

After failed apptempts, they still stand strong,

They first must wait an age far too long,

But when it comes at last, their foes fall,

The dwarves will answer their kin's call.

Their kingdom theirs again, word will spread,

The halls will again be safe to tread,

The Longbeards will never again be alone,

They are the people of gold, steel and stone.
