Who/What got you into D&D?

I started watching a stream, "The Unexpectables", on Twitch, because it featured some Youtubers I know. Honestly, it seemed super fun. I really like to roleplay, so, to be honest, it seems like it isn't that far of a step away from what I'm used to.

What do you enjoy about D&D?

I've never actually played, but from what I've seen, it looks like it has a high capacity to bring people together into a compelling story that is penned in part by the actions of the participants.

What aspect of D&D do you like the most?

I guess, not having played previously, I don't really have anything, but the tabletop game has a near-infinite amount of replayability. Video games, books, and other media simply can't establish that, due to their more limited structures.

Tell us some things about yourself.

Well, I've been roleplaying (not D&D, but more of your typical text-based roleplay) for a while now, which I hope can translate into making a better character in D&D sessions. I like challenging myself with creating characters that kind of clash with how I normally conduct myself, so that I can get a better idea of how to play them in the future. And, honestly, I don't know if this is a "fun fact", but I'm quite excited about learning more about D&D, and ultimately, beginning to experience the game for myself.

Do you want s to ask you questions?

I don't know how much I could answer, considering I just skimmed through the Player's Handbook today, and haven't had a sit-down and read through all of it, but I'm certainly down to try and help answer any questions that I can.

Do you have any questions?

A few, actually:

Is it better to make your own characters and hope they fit, or work with the DM of a particular campaign to make a character that is guaranteed to fit in with the campaign?

How 'acceptable' would it be for a newer, or even brand-new player, such as myself, to try and a game with some more seasoned veterans and try to learn the mechanics better through hands-on participation?

Is Roll20 the most commonly used site/app for running D&D campaigns here?

Could I maybe have a group of veterans, or even a couple veterans and more newer players, help me to learn the ropes hands-on?

Answers would be greatly appreciated!

Heyo! I saw the question about Roll20, and as a person who uses it for my own campaigns, I thought I would answer! :D

To be brief, it is a pretty common site to use and by far a really great one to utilize. It runs smoothly, has all kinds of things like various tokens to decorate the map with, implemented camera and voice if you want to experience something awesome and see AND hear the reaction of your fellow party .

That, and I think they have a lot of different character sheets to work from. From Pathfinder, to the 5e and others be it for their respective games or your own homebrewed campaign.

Plus it's free! :D

Hopefully my answer helped!
