Catz2Dragz Entry

hi i got excited so here’s my entry for the contest! #drago2catto

the breed i got was the turkish van, so i immediately looked to see if there were any turkish dragons. i found Yelbeghen, a many-headed god who takes the form of a dragon. Yelbeghen is said to have eaten stars, and chased them away into the sky. and, when there’s a lunar eclipse, it is said that Yelbeghen has eaten the moon.

I chose to do this piece in a lineless style, which is new to me. I wanted it to have a storybook like appearance, and I had fun making it look like that. I made stars scattered around the piece, with one being crushed in the mouth of the central head. I depicted a lunar eclipse in the top right side of the canvas to further reference Yelbeghen. Finally, I finished my creature with classic Turkish Van markings.
