Realistic art isn’t for everyone, it takes forever and it’s stressful to draw. Especially if you’re not a patient person, but with time and practice. You’ll get the hang of it, these are my tips as a nooby in this art style(because I’m also one ;^;)

I’ve seen people draw the skeletal structures all the way up to the muscles and skin, It’s a good way to get the feel for anatomy. Also, another thing that helps it. Study animals, look at the skin textures, how they move and put that into prospective of what your drawing. Use other animal parts to get the correct shape your wanting, like using skulls as a reference.

I personally like to get up and close with animals to help me, yes. That means I’ll get into the danger zone with a lot of things-(This doesn’t mean you go ahead and pick up a fucking cobra, not unless your a professional)

I would also like to recommend watching videos that show you how to draw somethings like realistic fur, scales, etc. I have a playlist right here full of some of the stuff I used to learn.

Heheheheh shading, the part that makes it all come together. Feel free to using these shading techniques on other art styles!

I personally love using the airbrushes for shading, with a bit of blurring in the mix.

You can use any color for shadows, very dark blues, blacks(though it’s not recommended by most artists- I still use it sometimes :>) all the jazz. But you can also use colors darker then the ones your using.

For lighting its the same sorta deal, any color you want for Lighting or ones lighter then the one your using.

Fur, hair, scales. Fur is harder then scales, but IbisPaint has a brush for it. Thank god.

How I do it!

Pick a color

Do the layer thing I showed

Grab the hair brush

Grab the shading color of your choice

Start dapping from the detection the fur moves down the head, body, etc.

If you used black, 22% the layer

Then repeat it for the lighting

Scales

Just draw a bunch of circles and con them to make scales, they can be random sizes. Also make sure to use your shading color of choice.

After practice and lots of hard, blood, sweat and tears of work. You’ll be able to do realistic art!

Do , as an artist. You can lose motivation if your stressed. I know I do, take it slow. Don’t rush yourself, and if you can’t get it on the first few times. Don’t give up, keep in your comfort zone. And it’s ok if you can’t draw realistic! You can pick up your phone, pencil or what ever you use and draw, right! That’s what makes you an artist, just being creative makes you and artist!
