Part 3: Is My Dog Dying (Happy Ending)

I phone the first emerg clinic to ask if we can pick up Endo yet. (It was 5am. I can be very impatient)

They hadn’t even called the big teaching hospital yet. Probably because their reception desk isn’t open till 8:30am I think, maybe 9.

Okay, how was Endo last night.

“He slept a lot. Cuddled the vets and vet techs, but had to stay on the drip all night. Coming off caused seizure symptoms to present themselves.”

9:15am. “You can pick him up for transport.”

Best dang words.

We pick him up and begin our journey 1.25 hours away to the teaching hospital.

Pease.. no seizures in the car.

SO’s mom s us for an extra set of hands and emotional .

Again, please don’t have a seizure.

I’m driving, one person is in the back with Endo, holding his IV bag. We notice it isn’t dripping very well.

SEIZURE ALERT!!

Howling. Barking.

Pees all over my SO and the back seat.

(Always needed an auex du toilette air freshener in my CRV… :satisfied: :sweat_smile: )

I pull over to calm him.

We switch around seating arrangements so I am in the back with Endo this time.

Thank goodness the next 40 minutes goes smoother.

We arrive and they get us in a room fairly quickly.

*

However

Now it feels like we are waiting forever (it probably wasn’t; I’m just impatient) for a Vet to come see us.

People come. A couple take Endo away for blood tests.

*

We sit talking with a vet about Endo’s health history.

(Again, eh?.. Want me to talk about my dog? How long do you have? I can go all day)

They go over theories and options:

-pancreatic cancer

-liver cancer

-pancreatitis

-blood tests

-whatever else the doctor said

We sign papers, pay off of an arbitrary number and go see our dog before leaving him for an unknown amount of days with people he doesn’t know.... sigh :(
