Hello! My dog is a dachshund mix, and he can be quite stubborn at times. When in the woods or walking, he will smell around, which I don’t mind until he goes away from me. When I call for him, most of the time he will ignore me and walk farther away, even if I call him confidently and sternly. He is also dog reactive and people reactive if the person walks near our house. Would this (e-collar) be beneficial? I will do research on the collar and how to use it if it is beneficial for my dog’s training. Thank you!

Most likely. At least for the off-leash thing. Do you know where his reactivity originates from? That is an important factor.

It depends on how you will use it though.

I personally would also do some foundational relationship work first.

(Long leash, orientation, communication, maybe even teach him a radius)

And it is really recommendable to at least let a trainer evaluate the situation first and introduce you to the basics.

Never get an e collar without consulting a professional first. If you're really interested in using one, and you think it'll be beneficial, hire a professional trainer

I would definitely get a long line at least. Especially because he’s reactive I wouldn’t let him off leash without a solid recall.
