Hey loves, berry here with a music club assignment! Today I will be ranking the songs from the Disney Movie Hercules! Hercules has been one of my favorite movies since I was a kid, and it had a really special place in my heart. Anyhoo, Let’s get started, shall we?

#5- One Last Hope

This song isn’t musically incredible, but it’s got a nice charm to it that I like. The lyrics are funny, and Danny Devito is just such an icon! It’s overall a pretty okay song, not winning any records musically, but it’s just a nice song with lots of personality and acting! It’s mainly voice acting, which my boy Danny does brilliantly in my opinion, but it’s still noteable in my book! There are a lot of play on words in this particular song which I adore! We can also see how Phil goes from a reluctant grumpus to being truly proud of Hercules, which is awesome that it shines through in the lyrics!

#4- Zero To Hero

Though it hurts in my opinion, this is where I’m going to have to place zero to hero. It’s one of my favorite songs in the whole film, but going back and listening to the other songs, this one is slightly lower on my list, though it holds a very special place in my heart. Like One Last Hope, it’s a lot of acting, and a reminder of the amazingness of the Muses in general! Vocals are awesome, and the film provides a lot of fun and memorable moments that take place in this song! It’s overall a great song!

#3- Go The Distance

I loved this song as a kid! I weirdly resonated with it because I felt like I never belonged anywhere. The lyrics are heartfelt and emotional, with a sense of longing, I’m counting the reprise as part of this ranking, as I also love it, you can feel the drive and purpose! Emotions shine through in this song, and it’s just really beautiful, a “Proud of Your Boy” moment, if you will. Vocally it’s great, and I love the ending! The background music is incredible! It feels almost like fanfare at one point, and pairs with the vocals really well!

#2- The Gospel Truth

This song is frankly awesome! I’m counting all three versions in my ranking, as in the motion picture soundtrack, the song is split into 3 parts, being about 4 minutes long all together. The first one is catchy and upbeat, introducing the mythology in a really fun way! The second is evil and brooding, making me really wish Hades has his own song, and the third is sad and mournful! Each shows off the gospel music used in all of the Muses songs, and really shows off their vocals while still conveying emotion with a fascinating method of storytelling! It merged into each scene of the movie seamlessly, before picking the same song back up and continuing. It reminds me of Broadway, as in this movie there are a lot of breaks in songs for scenes and dialogue, much like there is in Broadway!

#1- I Won’t Say I’m In Love

If you know me, you know I love this song! Susan Egans vocals are simply incredible. This song really paint Meg as an anti-hero with trust issues, who wants to learn how to love again! It uses the vocals of the Muses flawlessly, combined with the belting and mainly chest voice of Meg, along with the soprano and high notes of the muses. It truly makes a perfect blend! The song is beautiful, and I actually sang it for a club challenge a while back! Meg is my favorite character in Hercules. She is strong and independent. Though Meg is flawed, she tries to make the right choices, and is almost an Anti-Hero! Meg, Esmerelda, Kida, Jane, and all the other rejected Disney princesses just make me mad! They don’t fit the cookie cutter mode as much as the other princesses, and have a lot of grit and character! Meg is sassy and lovable and is just a 10 overall, especially with her banger of a song.
