I always find this kind of stuff interesting to read, so I thought I would share my experiences with Digimon throughout my life
My earliest memory is getting the original V-Pet when I was about 6 for my birthday. I had the Patamon one, making patamon my favourite Digimon growing up alongside agumon (I have a soft spot for every goggle head and their digimon). This later changed to Guilmon after getting my own D-Ark, and now to Lopmon.
Seasons 1-3 never aired on any channels I had, but I owned the movie and our local video store had most of the VCR tapes of season 1 up to about halfway through the real world arc. We never had the episodes where Tai manages to find everyone after returning to the digital world, so I never found out what happened until I got older and discovered the wonders of the internet. A kid at school told me wizardmon made Tai and Agumon switch bodies for an episode. I thought this sounded so cool, and was actually pretty disappointed when I found out he lied to me. Season 4 actually aired locally, but of course I had to leave for school whenever it came on. I got to watch it a couple of times when I was sick.
I used to play with the toy Digivices a lot growing up. My D3 got stolen after I decided to bring it to school, and I still have no idea who took it to this day. I played most with my D-Ark and D-Tector, and since I didn't have access to the show I developed strange ideas like thinking Guilmon was pronounced Gullmon (like a seagull) and thinking in frontier they summon the spirits to fight for them rather then turn into them. My mum used to hate taking me on walks since something on me would beep every few metres.
I dressed up as V-mon at school for a dress up day in year 2. I picked a fight with some kid dressed as pikachu, telling him we should decide once and for all which franchise was better. He said he didn't want to fight a girl, but I proceeded to headbut him while screaming "V-HEADBUT"...I was a pretty weird kid. (to clarify: I didn't hurt him, I didn't run at him or anything, just pushed my head into his chest. I also loved pokemon as a kid and still do, but Digimon is and always will be much more special)
Digimon kinda faded for me for awhile. That was until around year 7. I had a dream where I was riding on the back of greymon with Tai. Tai turned around and smiled at me, while giving thumbs up. This made me my love, and I started binging the show on the internet.
I played a fair bit of Digimon battle spirit on the GBA shortly after this as our family took some long car rides around the country. My brother was much better at it then me, actually beating the final boss, something I could never do as a 6 year old. I watched him play a few times, then he decided to go to sleep. I took a turn, picked Guilmon, and finished it for my first time. I was so proud of myself, but suprised to see I had unlocked a new character: Lopmon. I tried Lopmon out, and demolished my brother's high score. It almost seemed like destiny. From that point on Lopmon has been my favourite Digimon and my choice of partner, although I consider my Lopmon to have more of a Terriermon personality, wisecracking and carefree.
Around a year ago I had what I consider my favourite dream of all time. I standing with my friends and family. There was a portal in front of us, and all the leaders and their Digimon were stepping into it. I knew they were going off to save the world or something, and I wanted to desperately go with them, but knew I couldn't. Tai was the last to enter, but stopped before going in. He turned to me and said "We can't fight without the 8th leader" (this was before Appmon aired). He held out a pair of goggles. I turned to my friends and family, and all of them nodded their heads. I grabbed the goggles, and followed him into the portal. I swear I have the coolest dreams, something I'm so lucky about, especially since its my subconscious controlling them.
That's pretty much all the stories I can think of. Digimon has been something that has always kinda been there in my life. It's been something that I think represents my childhood, and that childish spirit is something I never want to lose now that I'm hitting my adult years. I hope others can find some joy or laughter in my experiences with the franchise.
I would love to read and funny or interesting stories you have as well, so if you have any please share them :D
