This is a story I've been wanting to write for a while but never had the energy to but I've got my energy and as an added bonus this is for the #Writerscircle so I'm hoping everyone likes it
Willow's grandfather was sweating as he worked. He tried his hardest to do well at his job, but his boss never thought it was good enough. "Bloodborne, you'll never succeed at anything if you stay like this," Willow's grandfather's boss criticized. He made an effort to control his anger, knowing that revealing his werewolf nature would only complicate things. He sighed and replied, "I'm sorry, sir. I'm trying my hardest, but you give me a lot of tasks." His boss scoffed and walked away.
By the time the workday was over, his boss called out that it was time for everyone to go home. Willow's grandfather let out another sigh as he walked home under the cover of darkness. Upon entering his house, he greeted his pups with a smile, making sure everything appeared fine on the surface. Willow's father raced to his dad and embraced him, both of their tails wagging happily. Willow's grandfather smiled and said, "I'll be back in just a minute. I need to go find food for you, your mother, and your siblings." Willow's father replied with a smile, "Okay, Dad. I love you." Willow's grandfather reciprocated, "I love you too, son," and sighed as he walked out of the house.
The next day, Willow's grandmother received a call informing her that her husband had not shown up for work. This news deeply concerned her, prompting her to rush to the church and seek guidance from the wolf goddess regarding the disastrous curse. Three days later, the situation took a turn for the worse. Willow's grandfather returned, appearing disheveled with an empty wallet and his shirt on backward. He called out to his pups, Willow's father and his siblings, grandfather delivered a heartfelt message: "If any of you have pups, let them know that I love them and never, ever walk alone near the train tracks." After speaking these words, he stepped back, reaching for his jacket, and cautioned Willow's father not to misbehave. Then, unexpectedly, he burst into laughter and left the house, never to be seen again.
Willow's grandfather approached the train tracks, and as he did, a thick fog enveloped his paws. He willingly allowed the entity to take him, making a pact that if it spared his pups, he would serve as a killer for the entity. The entity agreed to this arrangement, and despite his loathing for the task, he was powerless to change it. His primary concern was protecting his pups from harm.
15 years later, Willow's mother gave birth to her. As Willow grew, her mother was tragically murdered, leaving her father to care for her and her brothers. During their childhood, their father would tell them stories, hoping to guide them on the right path and prevent them from following the same path as his own father. As Willow and her brothers, Max and Jack, reached adolescence, they started to explore the world on their own.
One fateful night, Willow ventured off by herself. As she walked, a thick fog curled around her paws, causing her fur to stand on end. Suddenly, a train horn blared in the distance, startling her. She watched it as it ed by. Once she turned around, she saw her grandfather's bloody carcass, and he muttered something incomprehensible. This sight terrified Willow, and she quickly ran back home, her mind filled with whispers. Upon arriving home, she woke up her brothers, Max and Jack, and urgently said, "Max, Jack, I need both of you to come with me." The two looked at her, curious about what their sister had in store, and followed her into the forest.
As the three ventured through the forest, fog curled around their paws, but they ignored it. Willow was in deep focus, only being thrown off by the sound of howling. Willow ran towards the sound, seeing her grandfather's mangled carcass, gurgling his words of carnage, but he couldn't talk. Willow ran off, feeling like she was on the verge of madness. She ran through a plain parallel to the forest but rearranged. She came to a slope to a steep, and she climbed up, taking her focus off of the creeps. Within the foggy distance, she saw a silhouette that got bigger as she stepped. The traintracks were wet beneath her paws.
The figure followed Willow and started to talk to her. "It's a nice night for a walk. Would you mind if I ed you?" Willow said with a bit of a scared growl."Do what you wanna do." The figure smiled and said "Well that's great cause I'm going to, but not to annoy you, but I really have to ask. What a young kid like you is doing out by the Tracks? Are you waiting on the train?" Willow's ears flipped back."No, let me explain. I was just a witness to something sick. You should feel really lucky that you missed it." The figure looked down at Willow and said,"Woah, easy with tongue kid, try to listen carefully. What you saw was scary, but nothing when compared to me. I could show you things that could make all your dreams haunted, I could make you scream if I wanted," Willow's tail went between her back paws."Or I could be the bee in your bonnet, your best friend forever, two peas in a pod flocking like birds of a feather. You'll never have to beg, work, or steal if all this sounds worth it, then let's make a deal. All you want in life for the price of some lives, all the money you can fold, power that you can hold, I'll put you in control only if you're willing roll down these traintracks tonight." Willow raised a brow. "Well, where we gonna go?"
The entity allowed Willow to watch a trial in progress before letting her choose either to serve the entity or to be a survivor. Willow stared as the trial played out and growled at the entity. "I refuse to serve the likes of you!" As she smacked away, one of the entity’s claws. Willow ran off to the survivor camp. The survivors all stared at her with a slightly scared look, and they began to whisper amongst themselves. Dwight started this whispering, asking, "Did he get smaller, and did he somehow make his fur a lighter color?" David whispered back. "No, this has to be some new werewolf, and besides, it looks to be an adolescent. I doubt it's here for something good, though. "
The whispers were heard by Willow, and she started to feel insecure and a bit scared because if they didn't accept her, she would be all alone. Claudette looked at the worried Willow and got furious at the survivors. "Look at what you did! You upset the poor thing if she were here to kill us she probably would have tried to do so already." She walked over to Willow and lightly pat her. "Are you okay? I'm sorry if what they said hurt you. It's just that the last time a werewolf was here, he was a killer. " Willow whimpered and said, "My brothers, I'm scared that that monster will hurt my brothers." Claudette hugged Willow in an attempt to comfort her. "If the entity wanted your brothers, it would have taken them it would have brought them here. Your brothers are probably safe." Willow whimpered again and said, "But, they'll be so worried about me." Claudette hugged Willow tighter and said, "Don't worry, I'm sure we'll get out of here one day." Hearing this gave Willow a sense of hope that maybe one day she'd be reunited with her brothers and father, but right now, she had a new family to protect.
6 hours later
Willow was walking near the Mount Ormond Resort, trying to lay low to avoid getting caught in the open. Suddenly, her keen ears picked up on two voices engaged in what seemed like an argument. Curiosity got the better of her, and she decided to approach and see what was happening. Peeking through a window while remaining hidden, she observed the unfolding argument. Frank was visibly angry with Susie. "How the hell could you fail a trial that badly?" Susie quietly replied, "I don't know, I was just having a bad trial, I guess." Willow could sense the stress and suppressed tears in Susie's voice. Frank sighed and walked away, prompting Willow to retreat and find a hiding spot. As she sat there, processing what she had witnessed, a rush of emotions washed over her—mainly sadness for Susie and anger towards Frank.
Willow pondered her next move, feeling a strong desire for justice. An idea took hold, and she decided to take matters into her own paws. She quickly set off to find Frank and soon located her target. Crouching down, she patiently waited for him to by. Once he did, she pounced, pinning him to the ground and scratching the bridge of his nose, leaving a deep wound that would leave a permanent scar. Willow swiftly vanished, leaving Frank on the ground, bleeding. As he sat there, seething with anger, he reached for his hunting knife, determined to find the wolf responsible and give it the same treatment.
A few hours later, Frank found Willow and charged at her before she had a chance to react. He pinned her to the ground and inflicted the same scar she had given him earlier. With a vengeful shout of "Take that, you damn rogue!" Frank ran off, leaving Willow in shock as blood dripped down her snout. Despite the pain, a faint smirk appeared on her face upon hearing Frank's words. "Rogue, huh? I kinda like it," she whispered to herself. She sighed and started making her way back to the survivor camp. As she walked, she heard footsteps behind her, causing her to turn around and emit a growl, expecting to face the same individual who had scarred her. However, to her surprise, it was the pink-haired girl she had seen earlier. Willow's growl subsided when she recognized Susie. Although initially scared by Willow's growl, Susie calmed down and patted her leg, beckoning Willow to come closer. Willow was a bit puzzled by Susie's gestures, but she didn't mind and approached the girl, allowing Susie to pet her. Susie then softly asked, "What's your name, puppy?" Feeling a sense of tranquility, Willow rolled over onto her back, prompting Susie to rub her belly. "My name is Willow. What's yours?" she replied, enjoying the peaceful interaction. Susie smiled a little and replied, "I'm Susie, it's nice to meet you."
Before their small talk could continue, Willow's ears caught the sound of another survivor calling out for her, clearly concerned about Willow's safety. Susie gave Willow a hug, expressing her gratitude, and bid her farewell. "Thanks for being so kind to me," Susie said. Willow smiled faintly and hugged her back, replying, "It's no problem at all." Susie held onto Willow tightly and said, "Goodbye for now, Willow." Willow responded, "Don't think of it as a goodbye, but rather as a 'see you later.'" Susie smiled and nodded in agreement. Willow smiled back and said, "I'll see you later, Susie. And please, stay safe." With those words, Willow headed back to the survivor camp. "See you later, Willow. I promise I'll try," Susie called out as she watched Willow run off, feeling a tinge of sadness but reassured by the knowledge that they would meet again.
Willow arrived at the survivor camp, experiencing a sense of calmness she hadn't felt since arriving in this realm. Susie's kind nature had left a lasting impact on Willow, and knowing she had a close friend in this place made her feel safe. She walked over to the campfire, lay down, and allowed herself to drift into sleep, finally at ease.
