You started small. Jimmy Olsen went to grab his morning coffee, only to find his mug mysteriously glued to the desk. Perry White sat down at his office chair, which you had lowered to the lowest setting, making him look like a child behind his desk. Lois Lane found her computer mouse wouldn’t budge because you’d taped the sensor underneath. Each reaction was better than the last, and you reveled in every laugh, every look of bewilderment, and every exaggerated groan of exasperation.

But Clark? Oh, Clark was your masterpiece.

You’d been patient—too patient—setting up the perfect storm. The Bluetooth speaker was carefully camouflaged behind his computer, tucked away where even his super vision might not immediately catch it. The air horn? Duct-taped to the base of his chair, just waiting for the right moment.

Clark jumped so hard he sent every single file in his hands flying into the air. Papers fluttered down like confetti as he clutched his chest, wide-eyed and stunned.

The newsroom fell silent for a second, then erupted into laughter.

Clark took a deep breath, shook his head with an amused smirk, and went to sit down—exactly what I was waiting for.

The air horn beneath his chair blasted so loudly that Clark nearly fell out of his seat. He caught himself at the last second, gripping the desk with both hands, his face frozen in pure shock.

You clamped a hand over your mouth, but it was no use. The laughter burst out of you in waves, your face turning a bright red as tears pricked the corners of your eyes. You doubled over, gasping for air between uncontrollable giggles.

Clark exhaled sharply, running a hand through his hair before looking directly at you. “You!” He said, pointing an accusatory yet undeniably amused finger.

You shrugged innocently, struggling to contain my laughter. “April Fools?”

He sighed, shaking his head with an exaggerated display of resignation. “I should’ve known.”

Jimmy slapped Clark on the back, laughing. “Man, I have never seen you react like that. That was gold.”

Even Perry chuckled from his office, muttering something about how at least today’s pranks weren’t as bad as the time someone swapped his sugar with salt.

Clark took it all in stride, shaking his head with a smirk. “I’ll get you back for this, you know.”

You grinned, still wiping away tears of laughter. “Oh, Clark, you can try, but you’ll never see it coming.”
