When duty calls (part 1)

Part l

before the hunt

As I woke up, the city of Ramsgate was still silent. It's villagers all still asleep except for those like me, Slayers, they were already getting ready for their hunts, leaving their peaceful lifes so they can slay the plague that had haunted the frontiers... Behemoths.

Hearing the metalic sound of a hammer bashing the hot steel of a sword I'm reminded that my new axe has been crafted and so I grab my armour. It was a set that comprised of many different parts. A helmet made from the horn of a radiant Valomyr, a pair of steel plates that covered my chest and back which were under a coat made from Gnasher fur and tail plates. The bracers as well as the legging armour was made out a aether infused steel with many brass ornaments. This armour was masterfully crafted by Moyra Heighsketter. As I leave the tavern I find myself on the cold streets of Ramsgate, the sun hadn't rose yet and the city found itself in a gentle snow which poured over the many wooden buildings.

Soon I find my way to the smithy where Wils Bormen, the local master smith was awaiting me along my newly crafted axe. I received the axe happily as I took the cloth that covered it off. It was a axe crafted from the massive tail of a scorchstone Hellion. The way the blade shined with red firey colours over the black scale was mesmerizing. The handle was made out of a strong steel bar with many ornaments over it as well as a leather grip. The weight of the axe was too much for the average slayer but it was good enough for me, if not specifically made so that only I could weild it.

The bladed edge was sharp enough to cut even through the most masive skulls. With such a hefty weapon with such a sharp edge I could definitely kill any behemoth that found its way to the frontier. I pay the smith with a handsome amount of rams (money) as I make my way towards the quest board.

Apparently a group of new slayers have planned a hunt against a massive quillshot and so I agreed to help them out as a normal routine. Soon I find my way towards the aerial port as the young slayers kept talking between them

"I can't belive that Hellrock had agreed to go on a hunt with us!" said the youngest of them who seemed to be the sharpshooter of the group. "I've heard he had single handedly took down a heroic Koshai and Drask" the others commented as they boarded the ship. The story was half true, I did kill both of those beasts after they had murdered a younger crew of new slayers such as this one... The battle was gruesome and I didn't think I would manage to do it as I only had half a axe, my armour was beyond ravaged by the thorns of the koshai...history shall not repeat... I'll keep these young slayers alive!
