yes i did take the writing spot to just flex on people. then i realized that there isn’t pretty much any space to flex because people need to understand what’s going on without using google translate or it sounding completely awkward. i am sad.

Hi, I’m Cronssi and welcome to another weekly prompt! Can you guess what it is? I mean… if you took a look at the cover image, you can. You might be thinking what just happened. Maybe you understand some of it, maybe you understood none of it. This weekly prompt shines the best for us non-native English speakers, but it can also very well work in English! This week’s prompt is…

Language!

There are a lot of interesting things you can do with this so let’s get right into it!

Ideas

Blogging

o As we all know, Danganronpa is a Japanese game. What does this mean in of the characters? Does the language change their personalities or mannerisms? How about the few translation errors that have been said to be in the games? How do those affect things?

o Does anyone Project Zetsubou? It’s the fan translation of THH! How do the fan-translation and the official translation differ from each other? What changes, what stays the same? Does it affect anything major in the game? Is it overall a completely different experience?

o Who doesn’t like music? Music also has meaning. Take a sneak peek at a song’s lyrics and analyse them! It can be a DR song or maybe a song has lyrics that could be tied to a character or two!

Writing

o People’s mannerisms and how they use language makes them the way they are. What if Chihiro Fujisaki’s and Miu Iruma’s mannerisms switched? The switch doesn’t even have to be that drastic, just a single bit is enough to feel off. Write something where the character mannerisms feel off, or have switched!

o We tend to often focus on similar kinds of things when writing. Some focus on the character emotions, some on the mannerisms, some on what happens around them and some something completely different. Try to write something out of your comfort zone! How does that affect the final result?

o What if there was no language? How would messages come across? Would something be drastically different? Try writing a short story without a single line spoken out loud by the characters!

Art

o Have you seen those types of videos where you take a word and then draw around it? Wouldn’t that be interesting to try out? Do word art with Danganronpa related words! You can do that with the Latin alphabet, but other alphabets and syllabaries or even picture writing isn’t out of the question!

o You know sayings? Those weird things like “beating around the bush”? Try to draw those out, but in DR relation! Different languages have different sayings as well - you’re not restricted to just English!

o Tongue twisters are weird, right? They are even weirder when you think what they actually mean. Are you able to visualise one?

Editing

o You probably knew this, but character names have meanings. Research some of them and create aesthetics around the characters’ names!

o Letters can be really aesthetic. Think about all the fonts and different letters and symbols used for it! Try implementing some of those into your edits!

o Have you heard of flower language before? Each flower has a different meaning! Try matching some flowers with characters based on their meanings!

Cosplay

o Let’s not forget about our characters who know how to use language. Is it Touko Fukawa or Hifumi Yamada cosplay time? Maybe Ibuki Mioda? Maybe Sonia Nevermind? There are many possibilities!

o Unlike what you’d first think, language isn’t only written or verbal. Learn a few words of sign language and talk to us through cosplay pictures!

o Words are only half of the process when it comes to signaling a message. Body language is just as important - maybe even more important! Are you able to signal emotions with body language?

Q. I haven’t finished last week’s prompt yet! Can I still do it?

A. Yep! As long as you complete it within the month you’re still eligible to win! These prompts are also just for inspiration so if you haven’t come up with anything this week, but come up with a great idea the next, feel free to post it!

Q. If I’ve won before, can I win again?

A. Of course! As long as you complete all the prompts for the month, you’re eligible to win no matter if you’ve participated in the past or not!

Q. Do I really lose my title if I don’t finish this month’s prompts too?

A. Sadly, yes. Our goal is to reward who are diligent and make a post for each prompt. We understand being busy and we’re very sorry if you can’t make it, however, there is always next month!

Q. Do I have to follow one of the prompts above?

A. Nope! They’re just examples! If you wanna edit to a song of the movie or write a blog on who would be who in a crossover or anything of the sort that’s completely fine! As long as it follows the prompt in some way!

Q. I was busy and couldn’t submit the fourth prompt by the end of the month! Can I submit it late and still be eligible to win?

A. Yes, but no later than when the next weekly prompt occurs. If you can get it in by then or even the day one you will still be eligible! After that you won’t be though.

Q. Is there a certain level of quality I have to make my prompt entry?

A. As long as we can tell it didn’t take 5 secs to make or something a panda could do (no insult to pandas), it’s fine! We encourage you to be creative, but also try your best.

Q. Can I make multiple entries for one prompt?

A. You can but only one is necessary to be eligible to win. Feel free to make as many as you want though!

Q. Is there a set of rules my post has to follow?

A. As long as it follows DRA’s and Amino’s guidelines while remaining related to the prompt it should be fine!

Q. My streak broke! Can I repair it?

A. Sadly, no. Each month needs to be met by the time of the first post of the following month for your streak to be kept intact. New prompts are posted every Friday, so be sure to have them submitted by then!

Q. Do I have to do all the prompts before this one?

A.Nope! You can jump in and do the prompts at anytime. You only need to complete all 4 for the month we're on for the rewards, but if you only want to do one, or want to do a past prompt, you can for fun! Keep in mind, even if you finish a month that's ed, you can't claim the rewards. All 4 must be completed by the end of the month were currently on to be eligible.

Q. I don’t see any suggestions for OC posts. Can I make an OC post for this prompt?

A. Yep! You can always make posts from ideas that aren’t suggested so long as they follow the theme of the prompt. Also, OC posts fall under the other types of content.
