:ledger: Student Council Update

Distrust was something that had me SUPER active in the community here, and I greatly enjoyed taking part in it. It also helps people who wouldn't have connected normally find each other when assigned in teams.

I never had the chance to play mafia, but it also sounds super interesting!

Also, if you guys never continue distrust, I won't be able to enact my epic revenge scheme. :broken_heart:

i feel like there's a grave error in how you're approaching this about the powers and purpose of the Student Council. being the one who established what powers the Student Council has before i resigned, i think i should reemphasize the issue.

the Student Council isn't utilizing their powers past Weekly Prompts. that's the issue. the Student Council has every power you listed here (attached in the image below), and they can be found in the chat description of the Student Council chatroom. they have no one, single, designated purpose - their purpose, universally, is to help the Mod Team. be it, assisting with events and challenges, having a hand in applications, or assisting with PSA writing, or even writing their own PSAs. but, this is not being utilized. that chat was and still is dead aside from the few souls still active trying to lug around the Weekly Prompts. the reason why they've become known as the "Weekly Prompt group" is because the Weekly Prompts have always been their given responsibility. that needs to change.

you can ask the community what they want from the Student Council, but that only provides answers in of CONTENT produced by the Student Council. but then, how long until it takes the place of the "Weekly Prompt group"? how long until the SC becomes known for a recycled responsibility?

the issue is that they aren't branching out. while i firmly believe in that the SC should take more initiative, i certainly think they require s to get that train of discussion going. you, s, need to be their coordinators for the time being.

it's no secret that the Mod Team is struggling right now, but they shouldn't have to struggle all alone when they have the SC, who are way too underutilized for a group that exists with the reappearing purpose to help the Mod Team. but, the Mod Team can overcome this if they combined their manpower with that of the Student Council. in this way, both teams can be efficient together and you are benefiting off of the other's teamwork.

i know you are working on Student Council applications, but i must highlight the necessity of scouting active who are in-touch with this community and can keep up to speed with the direction the Mod Team is headed.

these are your solutions and i hope you can take them to heart.

ok ig since it got reposted ill go ahead and give some more thoughts since ive been participating in the WPs for nearly a year(i forgot abt january so uh rip streak)

but id say having monthly prompts with multiple winners would be ideal tbh! not only is it only one prompt with more time to work on and only having to aim to get one post out, but multiple winners would p much solve the only issue i actually had with WPs:its placing different categories such as art and edits against each other even when both have far different standards, the chances of someone with edits winning against someone with original art just never felt *fair*.if that makes sense? when both have far different standards of what makes them good, i dont think dividing them into fully different categories could help much since most ppl who participate in the WPs were editors, so just multiple winners overall would feel a lot better
