Danganronpa x Borrower (Au)?

Hello what's this?! TheSodiestSouda coming back from the DEAD with a blog?! Yes tis is I the fizziest and soudiest coming back with a entry regarding the danganronpa au crossover challenge! I apologize in advance for not being good, I've never really wrote a blog before, but I'll do my best to present it properly.

   •°○Danganronpa Borrower crossover○°•

Before we jump in we must review on what a borrower is.

                  WHAT IS A BORROWER?

A borrower is a tiny species of human who thrive off of borrowing items from regular humans beings that are too small or insignificant to be missed for the sake of survival. Taking small items such as sugar cubes, tacks, pins, ripping small pieces of paper off, stealing small bolts and screws, meager materials, and food scraps. Borrowers live off of their human home owners in secret. Taking residence inside the walls and floors of the home and traveling around undetected. If discovered by a human, a borrower will immediately vacate their home and find someplace else to live since being spotted by a human usually brings uncanny trouble that can be bad enough to endanger a Borrowers life. Some borrowers live outside of human homes, but is considered to be extremely dangerous for them and their vulnerable size as they try dealing with deadly wild life and mother nature's wrath . It's a rare choice anyways; Borrowers would rather live inside a human home than being out in the wild, but you'll always have those rare cases.

Borrowers orginally came from the written novel called "Borrowers", but the concept of tiny people living amongst us boomed after the release of the studio ghibli movie "Secret Life of Arietty". Which is a movie about Borrowers and heavily inspires the Borrower fandom.

(Now that we got that out of the way; time to explain the crossover~)

This is mostly a crossover with the added concept of Borrowers to the danganronpa characters, making them tiny in size and living borrower lifestyles. The common height for s steroytpical Danganronpa Borrower usually measures up around two to two and a half ts tall on your pinky. The DR cast secretly lives among humans as they try to live their lives after experiencing a horrible tragedy that killed thousands of Borrowers and completely eradicating their home. Filling the survivors with dread, anger, fear, and other negative equivalent emotions towards the tragedy.

The concept crossover/(Au)? has a fully planned out story behind the Danganronpa Borrowers, which s the common troubles a Borrower must go through. Some Borrower characters outshine the other's since they played a big role in the plot, deeming them as main characters, while others are used as sub plots and sometimes simply used for fun, quirky scenarios. So far we only have v3 characters, later on my partner and I will start cohercing about other cast .

        ○°•SHORT SUMMARY OF STORY•°○

(The borrower crossover concept has a very          detailed backstory, so it's going to be hard to try summerizing it all, but I'll do my best)

The backstory takes place in a castle belonging to the Nevermind family. Hidden behind the floorboards and walls of this godly palace is another world thriving with life. Borrower residents built small towns and districts throughout the castle and connected them all using dug tunnels, traveling throught the rafters, or inside the walls to get to their destinations. There were many areas of choice, but all was ruled under a kingdom owned by a powerful royal family; It's actually quite funny to picture having a kingdom within a castle I don't know why. Anywho the main protagonist the Borrower concept crossover/(Au) heavily focuses on is Borrower Ouma who is prince of the royal family and next in line to take the throne and rule over the peaceful Borrower community within the castle. Ouma surprisingly has proven himself worthy to take such a role and quite ambitious towards it, and rule it alongside his handed bodyguard, Amami Rantaro, who is part of the secondary family in the kingdom. The secondary family is also referred to as the servant family. Raised to serve and fully dedicated themselves to the royal family and their adversaries.

The young prince was ready for his rule, but has some flaws that are distracting his duty. Ouma loves messing around with the human's of the castle and focuses a lot of his time pulling pranks on them as some sort of comeback. Usually picking on the faithfull French maid, Tojo, for the butt of most of his jokes. Accompanied with Ouma's schemes are two borrowers, Kaito and Ouma's destined bodyguard, Amami. Both Borrowers are considered by Ouma to be his closest friends and trusts them dearly and they all love working together scheming pranks. A majority of Kaito's and Amami's time is spent trying to keep the prince safe and out of trouble though; making sure Ouma doesn't idiotically get himself killed. But one day while the prankster squad was out trying to set up another one of their annual pranks, Ouma was unluckily spotted by Tojo who was currently doing her cleaning rounds around the castle. Ouma and his friends quickly fled the scene in panic and somehow managed to knock over a vase in the process that scared the already startled Tojo of their presence.

Ouma, Kaito, and Amami escaped unscathed, but little did they just endangered the many lives of Borrowers throughout the castle. It's unknown why Tojo interpreted like this, but she apparently mistaken the Borrowers as some sort of sinister creatures that live under the floorboards and hires a exterminator to deal with them. A few days later a sinister fog started filling up the floorboards and the insides of walls. The Borrowers were confused at first, but when people started dropping dead when exposed to the fog the entire community soon realizes that they're peaceful lives are coming to an end. More bodies continued to drop while the Borrowers ran away in panic trying to escape the poisonous fog. Among the many fleeing crowds was Ouma and his friends, but didn't stay together long and were seperated in the panic, setting the fate of never seeing eachother again.

Barely any Borrowers escaped outside the castle. Many fell victim to the toxins and the remaining Borrowers who did survive being gassed fled out in all directions once outside. Ouma and his pals managed to escaped, but are unaware of eachothers surviving status and believe that the others are deceased. Broken, homeless, and emotionally scarred from the event the surviving Borrowers traveled in all directions and setted up new homes to reside in while trying to recover and live a new life. The prince who was ready to rule his grew a terrible malice towards humans for causing so much despair and swears under his royal title that he will avenge his species agaisnt human's for their vicious crimes and plans to scout out the missing, hidden survivors all over the world and create a bigger, better, STRONGER empire than the last. One he will rule the world with an iron fist and put all stupid humans under slavery.

(Geeze spent 3 hours writing that XD finally got the hard part done and out of the way. Now time to write the fun stuff. "Why is there a human Tojo when all the DR cast are borrowers?" Don't worry there will be a explanations later in the blog)

Like mentioned in the story I will be explaining the three main characters of the plot heavily and a few extras, not exactly all Dr Borrowers or things will get over crowded with bios. Also to get this out early, the DR Borrowers are almost, absolutely, EXACTLY like their human counter parts.)

-OUMA KOKICHI

Main character of the plot and by far the most focused on character. Ouma is a ambitious Borrower who has big dreams of becoming ruler of the world and enslaving the human race, and wishes to improve Borrower life for the better. Ouma's a bit cocky with his royal title and has a teaser-like personality. Ouma is smart and likes show off his smarts by outsmarting dumb humans and creating brilliantly crafted pranks to annoy them. The "prince" is small but mighty, he still holds a lot of power despite loosing his entire kingdom and does a good job turning situations in his favor where you dont have a choice, but to listen to him. Very much like the Original Ouma, he acts like little boy most of the time, but his facade can easily break if you hit it in the right spots.

Bringing up his past (especially the tragedy) can trigger emotional breakdowns and unleashing of a lot of pent up anger and aggression while he has a panic attack. The Borrower exposes his pure hated towards mankind and his unhealthy wishes to destroy their lives like they did to his in the past. Ouma constantly carries the weighted burden of letting thousands of Borrowers die under his family rule and wishes to make up for it any way he can. Even though having this oppressing stress, Borrower Ouma hides his weakness very well with clever lies and with a almost unbreakable facade. In the au I like to refer to Borrower Ouma as the "forgotten prince with a broken dreams" who hopefull wishes to make everything right again and bring back the way things used to be. A peaceful, flourishing kingdom full of Borrower life.

-AMAMI RANTARO

Borrower Amami was born and raised in the secondary family. The secondry family isn't well respected in the kingdom even though they're in close relation with the royal family. Ever since childhood Rantaro was born and raised to be the prince's bodygaurd. Being taught self defense, fighting techniques, and being trained to accomplish tasks that the prince would most likely assign him. Amami was presented to Ouma durring a special ceramony; funny, before officially becoming Ouma's bodyguard Amami accidently bumps into Ouma in the hallway (lol destiny). After meeting Ouma and being assigned to him, Amami never left the his side and always accompanied him throughout the day; even when the prince wishes to be alone and acts stubbornly about it. Amami always pitched in to help take care of Ouma and ended up developing a crush on him durring their time together.

Very cute and all, but Borrower Amami is too scared to actually make a move on Ouma since he fears that his social status will ruin his chances of ever having a relationship with Ouma, and Ouma's royal family status. How can he compare to that?! Rantaro assumes Ouma will brush his feelings off because of this issue, so he keeps his feelings secret and plays a good game of "senpai notice my feelings". In hopes that one day Ouma might return his feelings back to him. After the tragedy and being split from Ouma and Kaito, Rantaro spends his time traveling around trying to locate his precious ruler with little to no luck.

Rantaro is considered a rare case to borrowers since he prefers to live in the outside world where it's dangerous rather than being inside a cozy human home where it's safe and contains lots of beneifial materials. Borrower Rantaro has a bitter attitude towards humans and likes to give nasty glares at them from afar (while hiding in bushes and trees) and acts agressively towards them. While being around other Borrowers Rantaro is chill and acts perfectly himself: teasing, taking and completing given tasks, showing a bit of gay sass from time to time. But when he interacts with humans Rantaro's personality completely changes belligerent and into a cold hearted hatred, spitting out horrible insults, purposely giving the human the cold shoulder, and aims to ruin the human's day.

Being part of the prank squad, Amami pulls pranks just like Ouma except Ouma's pranks are harmless and aims to humiliate or embarrass humans while Amami's aims to hurt or cause harm to humans (His pranks are more like elaborate traps)(sometimes it almost kills people). Borrower Rantaro only acts this ferocious towards humans and never shows this awfull side to fellow borrowers. When not facing both sides of the coin Borrower Rantaro spends his time exploring and adventuring around and moving place to place, he's constantly on the move and never really stays in a certain place for too long. Still Rantaro aims to reunite with Ouma and is hoping with all of his tiny heart that he is okay.

-KAITO MOMOTA

There was several districts inside the Nevermind Castle and Kaito grew up in one of them without the presence of the Prince's castle. Kaito is daring and loves to travel around using his two grappling hooks. Double slinging across rooms and getting to tougher places one hooked Borrowers can't even reach. One fateful day, Kaito went out exploring the castle and ran into a purple haired Borrower who clumsily tried borrowing a book and fell off the shelf at a dangerous height. Kaito freaked and grappled his way to the fallen Borrower and thank goodness they didn't die, but they did break their leg. Kaito helped patch them up and offered to take them back to their district. It was along journey, but eventually Kaito found himself standing at the kingdom with the borrower using his body as and to his surprise turns out the clumsy borrower he helped was the prince of the kingdom. After that Kaito and the prince (ouma) grew closer with Kaito checking up on Ouma every now and then for his leg and staying to telling him daring stories about his time slinging through the castle and the many daring stunts he's done. Ouma was highly impressed by Kaito's guts and his ability to simultaneously use two grappling hooks and soon started seen Kaito on his own occasion, developing the friendship deeper and adding the third squad member to his prank team!

So far Kaito is the only known borrower who had the ability to swing two hooks at once with perfect accuracy. When swinging around Kaito usually compares the acceleration of altitude to his interpretation of anti gravity, carelessly floating and flying through the air, pretending to be in a rocket ship blasting through space. Kaito is a dreamer, a really BIG dreamer. He's constantly talking about his dreams as if they're destined to come true no matter what. Kaito hopes to one achieve his biggest dream and be the first Borrower to go into space, he prepared training regiments for himself in preparation for that dream, and spends his time studying up on astrology and stars. Kaito loves going outside and looking up at the stars and has a habit of pointing out the starts and constellations with a gleefully smile on his face and a shine in his eyes. When it comes to pranking Kaito is more of a tag along and helper instead of a schemer. He's usually gutsy with performing stunts, but when around humans he becomes a little timid and cautious of what he's and the squad are doing. Kaito's fine with doing things like slinging himself across the room and hopefull lands on the stray pillow that's on the ground, but when a human comes more than a few feet close he's out. It's a funny strange thing with him.

After fleeing the castle Kaito took refuge inside a highschool before later it becoming his permanent new home. Kaito is extremely uncomfortable with humans and waits for the end of the school day when all the students are gone to go out borrowing and exploring. Borrower Kaito hovers around the astronomy class and guilty sometimes hides in the ceiling to listen to the lessons. And for fun, inside the class is a mini toy rocket ship that Kaito happily hops in and plays with. Comparing himself to everyone else Kaito is living the best life after the tragedy, everybody else is suffering and going through trauma and this boy is playing around, living the dream.

            ~>THE PRANKSTER SQUAD<~

Ouma, Amami and Momota make up the prankster squad, as they have been friends ever since they were little. Ouma leads it, obviously, coming up with concepts and plans, deciding what works and what doesn't, what might backfire and what can give a good reaction. Amami works the structure of the suggested prank, seeing the possible outcomes with the branching paths and narrows them down into a workable formula. Momota leads the charge in the prank's actual setup, using his grappling hooks for the heavy lifting and moving of larger objects.

The prankster squad sees their pranks as legendary, and one had even gotten into the news. The paper had stated that an unknown vandalist had entered the castle and set a trap, one that involves the liquid from a crushed soda pop bottle leaking mentos into various coke bottles and causing a large soda explosion, called the Legendary Hydraulic Press Prank by the crew, and the rest was history.

The crew has a strong bond of trust, to the point where Ouma is actually honest with his now and again, and they do not like being separated. When they were after the tragedy, they couldn't stop thinking about each other's well being and worrying about each other. When they are together, it's hard to pull them apart, Ouma leading the front of Amami and Momota, and they usually agree on most things. They also harbour the same deep hatred for humans and will work together to take them down one day. You don't mess with the prankster squad, because they come back with twice the bite despite their size.

             《♤OTHER CHARACTERS♤》

Near the starting of the blog I mentioned there being side characters and would like to show some examples. Summeries will be attempted to short, but still might come out long. Won't go into explanation of everybody or this blog will quikly get over crowded.

-BORROWER SAIHARA

Saihara grew up at an investigation center. He's the most picky about following the rules and is very strict in abiding by them, due to how observant the humans in his home environment can be. He's been at the investigation center since he was little, due to the fact that his parents were kidnapped by a murderous human when he was five. His uncle managed to raise him for two years after that, before he vanished as well, looking for Shuuichi's parents. Saihara still has the hat his uncle gave him, and he becomes a flustered, stuttering mess without it. He's the most afraid of humans in comparison to other borrowers.

Saihara only breaks one rule, despite his strictness toward following them. At night, when unsolved case files are strewn across the desk, he takes a peice of pencil lead and reads over the cases, underlining what he finds to be important. Since then, the investigation center calls Saihara their most valuable anonymous tip, due to his observant findings and the fact that they can't find him. He hides away when the humans come looking for their anonymous tip, after all.

-BORROWER TETSUYA AND KIIBO

Yes, there is a "human" Kiibo in this AU, alongside his robot self! Tetsuya is a sickly borrower who is too weak to go out into the human side of things and borrow things for his survival. Luckily, Tetsuya stumbled across some spare parts and metal in his youth, and created the perfect solution to his problem, Kiibo! The robot's original functions were to gather supplies for Tetsuya, but as Kiibo advanced, it became apparent he could defend himself in the outside world. With this newfound discovery, Kiibo came into with many different borrowers in many different homes, and his new duty became clear.

Kiibo now delivers letters to and from borrowers all over town, using his advanced warning systems to keep himself from getting caught and out of trouble. Tetsuya is constantly updating him for his best performance in the world outside, and Kiibo is the most reliable source of communication between borrowers to date. Tetsuya gets a lot of request letters from a certain ex-prince about building an army of Kiibos to take over the world. He has yet to accept.

-BORROWER KOREKIYO

Often refered to as the most gutsy of borrowers, Shinguji loves to try and interact with humans, even at the cost of exposing the borrowers! Shinguji likes to walk and talk like humans when no one else is around, and will often spy on them from different places often. Shinguji is another borrower who is always on the move, as to find intresting humans and see their many amazing quirks. Korekiyo is a bit outcast, due to the strong fear and dislike present in most borrowers when the subject of humans is brought up. Shinguji doesn't mind, though. It leaves less people to bother him in his work, and attempts to get closer to humans. Korekiyo foils Ouma's veiw somewhat, because of how he believes that humans and borrowers can live in peace and harmony if the right action is taken, while Ouma believes humans to be evil and dark hearted, and that there will never be true peace between the two. Shinguji still keeps to his studies of humans, even if methods turn out unconventional to other borrowers.

• :black_small_square: THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF BORROWERS :black_small_square: •

What's more rare than finding a borrower who wants to live outside of a human house is finding a Borrower who has special abilities or mutations. Ouma, Amami, Saihara, Korekiyo, and many others are "normal Borrowers", the commons of the populations, but there is a select few that stand out Borrowers. These Borrowers have certain mutations or unorthodox abilities and are highly feared by the community because of this. Being viewed as dangerous or monsters. Granted the "Different Borrowers" can be substantially dangerous, but most of them are proven to be friendly and or harmless.

-Unlike her human counter half, Borrower Tojo tragically mutated with a black widow durring the gassing of the Borrowers. Blessing her with spider-like abilities that she uses efficiently for her cleaning habits. Sadly the mutation physically mutated Tojo to have a spider bottom half that tends to scare away other Borrowers (because nobody likes spiders). The price she has to pay for her amazing abilities. Tojo is looking a way to become normal again, maybe if she's not a horrifying spider women borrowers would stop running away from her and she doesn't have to be alone anymore

- Borrower Gonta can mystically communicate with animals and insects, taming them instantly and lives with them like an animal king. Rumor has it that Gonta is strong enough to flip a human, but no proof is provided. Gonta is feared for his animals abilities and his powerfull strength and is constantly being avoided by fearfull Borrowers despite him actually being a fluffy, innocent, cinnamon roll. It's unknown if a Gonta is a survivor of the castle or not.

- Borrower Himiko practices in the art of levitation and other magical arts. Unlike Gonta and Kirumi, Himiko is respected of her abilities. Still some Borrowers can't resist being afraid of her. Himiko is powerfull with magic, but her lazyness stops her from doing any zip zaps and poofing away into nonexistence. One goal Himiko wishes to accomplish is learning and successfully performing a size changing spell. The mage is dead set on this goal and spends most of her time doing magic research on it.

         《DIFFERENT GRAPPLING HOOKS》

A grappling hook is a useful tool for a borrower. It's the easiest way to move around a residence or the outside world, and reach high places, as well as drag things closer or as a use of self defence in dire situations. Borrower hooks are handmade and are usually string with a sharp peice of metal on the end. Though the majority are like this, some borrowers stylize their hooks or methods of using grappling hooks.

-Kaito Momota uses two grappling hooks instead of one. He is a master with the two of them and can use them to swing from place to place without the limitations a borrower with only one hook would have. Kaito is agile with any hook in his possesion, but prefers to use the two found strapped to his back.

-Maki Harukawa has a grappling hook tied together with a screw and severed edge. The hook's head is more flexible than one tied with a rope, and can be bent over to how Maki pleases. The severed edge latches to things like wood rafters and such, as well as able to carve through thicker objects, while the smooth, sharp side can make quick work of thinner material. Maki mostly uses it to get around, but she is unafraid to turn it against a human or even another borrower, due to her preference to working alone.

-Miu Iruma's grappling hook is the most unique, because it looks the most like an actual grappling hook and is made entirely of metal. The hook can launch itself at Miu's pleasure and latches into things effectively with the three ended head. It's good at grasping things and dragging them back to Miu, and can lift her and other weight many feet into the air without breaking. It's useful for bringing heavy objects without being too slow and exausting. Miu prides herself in her hook, and wouldn't trade it for much else.

            THE CONCEPT OF "DOUBLES"

Finally heres the chance to explain the human Tojo at the start. In the borrower universe, the human universe both exist in the same place as the concept crossover/(Au) at the same time. This makes for many an awkward encounter when it comes to doubles meeting eachother, a very fun concept to work with! The borrowers and humans are similar in personality, but it's perspective that makes the double concept fun. Due to the difference in size and the dissimilar situations a set of doubles has gone through, leaves room to work with like, "why is it so cute when Borrower Shinguji is observing humans but creepy when the human one does it" or the trouble the two Saihara's get into with their shy personalities.

Kami - Sama forbid the two Ouma's end up in the same place together.

Welp that about wraps up everything. Hope you guys enjoyed the challenge post explaining the entirety of the Borrower crossover concept/(Au). To be honest writing the blog portion was really fun, I enjoyed it a lot. Maybe I should write more blogs in the future... Browa and I have been talking about this Borrower thing for a very long time and had everything pre-planned before entering the challenge, sadly we discovered the challenge and entered a little late in the game and I've reread the rules and turns out we've mistaken and are doing things   a little bit wrongly, but we already got far into the blog to stop, delete, and change everything. Hope we still qualify for the challenge XD Thank you all for taking your time and reading our entry ^-^/

(Small information stuff and headcanons)

- Writing Borrower Ouma, Borrower Saihara, Borrower Angie, Borrower Nagito can be exhausting. To make it easier we've given nicknames to the Borrowers. Mini Kichi, Mini Sai, Mini Angie, Mini Ko, etc (it really helps)

-"Clever Human(s)" is a Borrower term used to describe humans who are too observant of their surroundings and are hard to live with because of their watchfulness

-Mini Gonta has a pet cockroach named Roachi

-Mini Mami loves to borrow(steal) jewelry

- There's a running joke where Mini Kichi wants panta very badly (he even dreams of taking a bath in it what a weirdo) and every single time he's about to get it we yank it out of his grasp, letting mini kichi suffer (because tormenting the characters you love is fun) No matter what, mini kichi will never get a sip of panta and will always fail due to some bizarre reason.

How the shipping mess works for this AU in a nutshell:

Saihara is pining after Kaede, but is too shy to make an actual move. Meanwhile Ouma is "subtlety" making moves on Saihara, who is oblivious to it because of his crush on Akamatsu. Behind Ouma's back, both Amami and Tetsuya (Borrower Kiibo) are fighting in secret over Ouma's affection, but the supreme ruler is too busy making moves on Saihara to notice. To top it all off, Kaito has a crush on Tetsuya and doesn't know what to do about it. Kaede is oblivious, but talks to Rantaro about his crush on Kokichi.
