hello, everyone ! my name is sae and i'm a leader of this community. once again, i bring you all bad news ! :tada:

a while ago, we banned two alternate s for trying to intimidate s into giving them— and i promise i'm not making this up —amino coins.

they attempted to mimic phishers: they sent a shortened url to these s, the s clicked the link, and their DEVICE information was compromised. and then they threatened to "destroy" their router if they didn't give amino coins.

i am here to tell you that this is 100% authentic bullshit.

the link they've sent i've seen before - i recognized the domain, and it's harmless. it actually comes from a secure and trusted online tool, and the purpose of it, as i've stated before, is to shorten URLs. it may also collect additional *device* information if the creator chooses, but i promise that device information is the most surface information adjacent to what you might grant other social media apps when you them. in other words, it's no hot shit. they can't do anything with it.

of course it's still really creepy to have someone tell you your device information (like the size of your phone, device model, or approx loc) and unfortunately, those two alts exploited the purpose of that tool, which is typically used for anything related to statistics.

as online etiquette goes, DO NOT click any random links, ESPECIALLY not from low-levelled s in the event of an actual phishing attack, and not a bootleg Zama one. i will it, they were pretty creative with their plan and intimidation tactics, but it was too easy to see through. hacking/phishing is illegal.

we really could've just stopped at a ban, but i have 0% remorse for things like that, and i learned how to properly TA which means they're getting superbanned so no one else suffers that kind of anxiety :angel:
