I've been on this amino for a while (almost 8 years), but I don't currently have any type of introduction post on my , so I thought I'd do the icebreaker challenge!

What's your nickname / something you want to be called?

My name is gloomy!

But, since my name is CatTheCrybaby, I'm fine with being called cat in this community too.

My pronouns are it/he, interchangeably.

How long have you been a fan of Melanie? What got you into the fandom?

I've been listening to Melanie's music since 2015! I discovered her through an AJMV for Dollhouse that my sibling kept listening to. Then me and my other sibling got Very into her music, after learning she had more than just the one song :P

What are your favorite songs of Melanie's?

I really like her older unreleased music, so my favorites include some of those.

Currently, my favorite Melanie songs include:

• Bombs on Monday

• Night Mime

• Blue Knees

• You Love I

• Can't Shake You

• Crybaby

• Mad Hatter

• Tag, You're It

• Test Me

• Glued

• Pluto

This list changes very often, although Bombs on Monday and Night Mime have been long time favorites.

What is your favorite album/EP of Melanie's?

The Crybaby album is definitely still my favorite. It's the most nostalgic to me, and has a lot of good memories attached to it. I haven't been able to get into Melanie's newer albums as much as I got into Crybaby.

What is your favorite era of Melanie?

Although I missed it, the Dollhouse Era is one of my favorites, in of outfits, makeup, and stage presence. It's a very aesthetically pleasing era to look back on.

I do think the Crybaby era is my actual favorite though, since I was actually in the fandom for it. The outfits and makeup are also similar to the Dollhouse Era, and the stage presence is mostly the same, but with a higher budget.

Do you own any of Melanie's merch? If so, what?

I used to have So Much when I was in middle school, but I only have a few things now.

Currently, I have:

• the Crybaby nameplate necklace.

• the Crybaby blocks shirt.

• the blanket of Crybaby in a crib with the stuffed animal head mobile.

The blanket is the only thing I still have from all the stuff I had a while ago, but someone bought me the nameplate necklace and the blocks shirt recently as gifts, so I have those again now. All the other merchandise I used to have, I don't currently have.

I used to have a lot more shirts, and the crybaby enamel pins, and the snow globe, coloring book, CD, poster, bracelets, hats, the pacifier necklace, some other necklace, the backpack, the bomber jacket, the wrapping paper, and probably some more stuff. I don't have any of that stuff anymore, and I really really wish I did :')

Do you own anything handmade that is inspired by Melanie? If so, show us!

I have some art I've made, which probably isn't what this means, but it's still handmade. I actually posted some of it back in September. You can check it out here, if you're interested.

If Melanie could collab with one artist, who would you choose and why?

I'd probably choose Marina, because that's what 12 year old me would've wanted.

I'm a VERY big Twenty One Pilots fan.

I have! I've been to a few now. Sadly, I've never seen Melanie in concert (due to the show getting cancelled for covid), but I have seen:

• Anthony Amorim (in 2017)

• Cavetown (in 2018)

• Madison Beer (in 2021)

• The Driver Era (in 2021)

• Will Wood (in 2022)

• Poppy (in 2022)

• Will Wood (again) (in 2022)

• Los Campesinos! (in 2022)

• The Mountain Goats (in 2022)

• Owl City (in 2024)

All together, that's 10 concerts! Wow!

What are some of your favorite things to post, and why? Will you be posting them anytime soon?

On amino, I like posting reviews and lyric analyses. I'm just recently getting back into doing those, so they might come back soon. I like making those types of posts because I find lyricism and poetry very interesting, and I enjoy pulling apart songs to figure out what the meanings are.

I also write fanfiction on wattpad and am active on tumblr, but that stuff isn't really Melanie related. :P

• This amino was the first amino I ever ed, back when you could have individual shortcuts and didn't need the actual amino app :O!!

• I've been playing Animal Jam since I was around 10 years old, and I still play. If you want to be buddies, let me know! /nf

• I also enjoy roleplaying, and am open to rp requests, if anyone's interested :)
