Angsty Toby

The struggles I went through for this piece was insane. Very quickly I found out how hard it it is to draw goggles. I do like how it turned out (after four hours of agony.) This was more of an experimenter piece :3 I LOVE HATCHING!!

I adore the monthly challenges and I knew this was going to be a good one.

Ticci Toby is listening to Pit of Vipers by Simon Curtis! I chose this song because it is associated with Toby already for its angsty vibe. Toby is in his teens in the cannon, so naturally he would be an emo, angsty boy who connects with music.

Ticci Toby leaned against a rusted lamppost, the sharp cold of the night air biting at his skin. His thoughts were a tangled mess, too loud and too fast to keep up with. His hand itched for his knives, but he resisted the urge to grab them, instead reaching for his headphones. Music allowed a moment of escape; a moment where he could fabricate his own reality. He pressed play, and Pit of Vipers started pulsing through his ears.

The deep bass and electric hum of the synths felt like a jolt to his system. There was something about the song—sharp, relentless—that made everything else fade into the background.

The world felt a little less heavy, the chaos inside him settling into a rhythm. It was noisy and chaotic, and he was able to pick apart pieces to focus on.

The whispers in his head quieted as the song’s pattern took over, filling the empty spaces in his mind with something far more urgent.
