Tsukiyama: Day 1

Hello there~

Today I present to you my day 1 of #CDawgtober, Tsukiyama.

Time(all attempts): 10 minutes

Time(successful attempt): 3 minutes

Materials: black pen, paper

I decided to do CDawgtober this year! I don’t have a lot of time in my days, so I can’t do an intricate drawing each day as I’d like to, but I decided to do a sketch for it every day. I’m trying to really focus in on improving my skills with ink(to follow the footsteps of a certain pastry), so I’m not sketching anything with pencil beforehand. I’m going to try to use only ink the whole month!

  Today’s theme was Tsukiyama, whom I’ve had many difficult experiences drawing the face of, to say the least. :joy: I struggled greatly with his head shape, as it is quite awkward and I love erasing, but am unable to do so with pen. When I finally found a shape I was okay with, I drew the rest of the body. The five attempts took 10 minutes in total, the successful one taking 3 minutes of the 10.

Since this journey will be all about trial and error, I decided to write down and show you all my notes on my mistakes. Usually I take all these notes mentally when I’m trying to improve, sketching and re-sketching, but I thought it might be interesting to show my process. I hope that at the end there will be a lot less attempts and mistake notes, so that I can clearly see my improvement!
