Currently Falcon has done two dev livestreams for the release of wildwood in late 2023. In case you missed them when they were live and don't feel like watching an hour long stream, here's a recap of the stream and what to expect for the Cattails sequel!
THIS WILL CONTAIN SPOILERS
READ AT YOUR OWN RISK.
:herb: :herb: :herb:
:leaves: The beginning cutscene was revealed. The cutscene tells the story of what happened between the first game and Wildwood. The Sacred Temple was destroyed by an earthquake and with it the forest guardian began to fade. The cats then moved to the wildwood to create a new temple and made you the leader.
:leaves: You cannot buy different coat colors from shops anymore. Your coat color can be a preset in the customization menu or made into a copy to be able to change color values, patterns, and accessories.
:leaves: Task board is back and is in the center of your colony next to Coco.
:leaves: You can choose the name for your colony along with choosing its title (calling it a colony or domain or a kingdom, ect)
:leaves: You can also choose the title for leadership (captain, commander, leader, mayor, ect.)
:leaves: You can find mews by cutting the grass with your claws.
:leaves: You can have a perfect pounce for a hunt which gives you extra exp if you catch it.
:leaves: You can change the hunting style in the new accessibility . The default is a slider accuracy game called quick time, coin toss is a random chance based on how close you are to the prey when you pounce, and immersive is the exact same as the first game.
:leaves: Currently in the alpha there are no rival colonies to fight and your enemies are voidling cats, and hostile prey such as rats, snakes, and crabs.
:leaves: Falcon wasn't planning on making a sequel but there were too many limits in the first game that he couldn't implement his new ideas into, and that's how wildwood came to be.
:leaves: One of the goals in the making of wildwood is that many players in the first game didn't get to custom colony as it was locked behind the main story, so in wildwood you open with the custom features right away.
:leaves: Dedicated meow button to summon Molby in your den, and you can also change the pitch of your meow to be higher or lower
:leaves: Mine teleports are now automatically added and no longer need to be purchased when you reach a checkpoint.
:leaves: There are two staircases you can find in the mine levels. Both will lead to the next level, and one of them might be locked by a key you have to find in the rocks.
:leaves: Active skills and kittens will be implemented but currently falcon has nothing to reveal on it.
:leaves: You can move your nest in your den.
:leaves: Rooms in your den are freeform made however you desire, unlike the first game where you had to buy a specific square shaped room.
:leaves: The exterior of your den can be changed but that hasn't been implemented yet.
:leaves: You can buy furniture packs from the merchants for your den, and you can also buy songs to play with your den's jukebox.
And this is the end of the recap!
