A short cat bounded through the moonlit forest, her curly white fur glowing in the light that shone through the strange trees. There was a blue mist that hovered around her paws, glowing each time she touched the ground. She quickly stopped as she saw the creature she was looking for, The Forest Guardian. The strange creature nodded at her, bounding gracefully away. "Wait!" The she-cat raced after her, her blue eyes widened with fear of losing them. A voice echoed through the strange forest, familiar but unrecognizable. "Maggie." Maggie stopped, the blue mist racing ahead of her. "Maggie!"
"Get up sleepy head!" Maggie slowly blinked open her eyes. Looking up at her younger brother. "Alright, alright I'm getting up!" Maggie pushed herself to her paws, shaking her head. "So what do you want?" Her younger brother looked down at her, an innocent glow in his eyes. "I can't get mom up, and I'm a little hungry." Maggie yawned, lying back down. "You should just leave her be for a while. She works hard as the colony's doctor in training." Crow squirmed around next to her, rising to his paws. "Why don't you two ever shut up." Crow padded out of the den, his paws moving clumsily. "Ok. I'll go cover her up, she seems really cold." Maggie's eyes widened in horror as she scrambled to her paws. She quickly padded over to her mother's nest, looking down at the pretty silver she-cat. "Mom, mom get up!" Maggie roughly nudged her mother with her nose, jumping back as her nose touched the cold skin under her mother's thick pelt. "Dove, Dove help!" The silver she-cat raised up from her nest on the other side of the den, her amber eyes dull from sickness. "What's wrong?" Maggie yowled out, her voice cracking as she spoke. "Something wrong with mom!" Dove pushed herself to her paws, stumbling over to her apprentice. "I'm sorry Maggie, Dagger's gone." Alex stared up at Dove. "No she's not, mom's right here." Dove sighed, not wanting to break the news to the young tom. "Alex, mom's. . Sleeping." Alex stared down at his sister, his eyes shining with curiosity. "When will she wake up?" Maggie bit her tongue, wishing she didn't have to explain it to her little brother. "It, it will be a long time." Alex nodded, trotting back to his nest. Maggie sighed, grabbing her mother's scruff. She struggled up the slope that led to the entrance of the cave. Suddenly most of the weight seemed to be lifted. Maggie looked over, staring at Crow's glowing green gaze. "Thanks." She mumbled through the mouthful of fur.
