And so, here we are. The last official week of July and the last week of the group stages on the 2024 Battle of the Week Voting Tournament as the spotlight stays with the cartoon community. We started with twenty candidates back in March... now down to thirteen with eleven already clinching their spots in the playoffs. The final two matches of the Group D stages with one match between a candidate who already clinched a playoff spot, now gunning for the one-seed, against a candidate who is already eliminated. And in the other match, where the focus will be for this week, the fight for the final spot in the playoffs for the cartoon community.
Going into Match 9 of the Group D stages, I’ll probably spare y’all the deets that The Great North is likely going to win this one because Moon is the favorite to win this match after winning the group following his win over Cole Tillerman a few weeks ago. His focus is now on the number one seed in the Bravo Party, a spot currently held by incumbent champion Louise Belcher following her win last week against Fionna Campbell. However, stranger things can happen, and I wouldn’t rule out the Archer fandom spoiling The Great North’s shot of clinching the number one seed for the second year in a row.
With the tenth and final match of the Group D stages, this is where the focus for this week with the final playoff spot up for grabs. It’s a win-or-go-home match for Sprig Plantar (Amphibia) and Aang (Avatar: The Last Airbender) for a trip to the playoffs on the line. Sprig comes out of his bye month following his loss against Cole Tillerman a few months ago, sitting at a 1-2 record with 56 votes in his column. Meanwhile, you have Aang, who nabbed his first win over Sterling Archer and is also tied with Sprig with 56 votes in his column. Which makes this match, the final match of the group stages, a consequential one for the playoff race. Only one will win and advance, the other will go home. Sprig, Aang, for the final playoff spot in the Bravo Party in the voting tournament with the winner to take on Luz Noceda in the Wild Card Round...unless things spiral out of control and it might be Molly McGee. But it’s likely going to be against Luz in the Wild Card Round.
The time to vote is now! Who will win? You decide! Vote today in what is going to be a pretty long season in the Battle of the Week Voting Tournament. Happy voting and please, no spam voting. Any spam voting for one candidate after making your vote will NOT be tolerated.
