The spotlight shifts over to the cartoon community once again with the next batch of the group stage play going into Week 4 of the voting tournament season of 2025 with the next batch of candidates ready to take the stage with three of the four fandoms making their return to the stage and one newcomer ready to make a name for itself, even after being screwed over by their network and yes, you should know this particular fandom as one of the newcomers in this voting tournament cycle.

Starting with Group C, the Avatar fandom is back again on the ballot, and this time for the franchise’s 20th anniversary. The fandom was a win away from making it back to the playoffs for the first time since 2020, only to lose against Amphibia last year for that final playoff spot. Well, they’re back at it again and ready to get back to the big dance in what is pretty much the usual when it comes to Group C: crowded and packed with talent. So, this should be an interesting season to see what this fandom will do in 2025.

And to do that, they have to face a newcomer making their debut in the voting tournament, and that would be the Hailey’s On It fandom. And if y’all been living under the rock, there’s no introduction needed other than the fandom was screwed over by the network. And this is the first time that the fandom is participating in this voting tournament. And with a packed Group C for this year, it’s going to be an interesting ride to experience some might think that the Hailey’s On It fandom would have the same magical run as what the Central Park fandom had gone through last year after their show got canceled. So who knows? It could happen.

Meanwhile, with Group D, two returning fandoms are entering the stage for the 2025 season. Two returning fandoms in what I guess is a packed Group D stage and having to share the same roster as the defending champion (Moon Tobin) and the candidate who made a surprising run last year and could be a possible championship contender (Cole Tillerman). This is the third straight-voting tournament appearance for Futurama. Made the playoffs in their first appearance in 2023 under Fry but failed to make it back there a year later in 2024 with Leela. And now, going into 2025 with Bender. Almost made the playoffs last year and now, with the expanded format to allow three people to make the playoffs instead of two, it’s open season for the playoff spot once August hits, even though the top two feels like y’all already know the answer. But who knows? Stranger things can happen.

And on the other side of the corner, you have a returning fandom and a returning candidate who hasn’t made their appearance in a very long time. The year 2020 speaks for itself. The Rick and Morty fandom is back for the first time in five years and with Morty Smith as the returning candidate. It took them a while before being added to this year’s roster. Especially when having to undergo a change... and a massive one behind the scenes during the hiatus from the ballot. But they’re back. And this is the third time Morty is being used as the character of choice to represent the fandom. Made it far in the voting tournament to reach the semifinals in 2015 but failed to make it out of the group stages in 2020. And with the expanded format to allow three candidates instead of two, it’s open season to nab a spot but we got a full group stage to find out who will get it.
