𝐛𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲 ; born to a lawyer and the daughter of one of the richest men in montreal, paul evans had one of the best starts in life, blissfully unaware that his parents were in a loveless marriage and didn’t have the slightest feeling of affection towards each other. as a child, paul felt different from the other children in the playground; he didn’t have the same love for digging around in the dirt and roughhousing with his friends, instead, he enjoyed sitting on a bench with a journal, writing the fictional stories he made up in his head onto a page or whatever he could find. it was then that he knew that he wanted to be a writer when he grew up. at the age of nine, paul’s family made the move to new jersey, where he was quickly put into an all boys private school, one of the most well known and renowned private schools in the entire state of new jersey. paul struggled to fit in at first, all the other children seemed to have known each other for a very long time, it gave him a sense of loneliness that he couldn’t shake.

his lonely feeling was quickly replaced by a feeling he couldn’t describe; when he was 11, paul became friends with a boy named christopher. initially, the two were inseparable, they would spend as much time together as they could - climbing trees, finding secret hideouts that only the two of them knew about. when the two boys started high school, christopher started to change - he became withdrawn from the things the two of them used to love, he started spending less and less time with paul and the two other boys the two of them were friends with until one day, he disappeared all together. paul never got answers about what happened to christopher, but he quickly got over the yearning he had for his old friend and got back to what was most important, his studies.

at the age of 16, paul befriended benjamin scott, a boy from the other side of the tracks who wasn’t as fortunate as he was; the two of them took to each other right off the bat and it was clear that the two of them had a significant amount in common with one another. on a stormy night in april, the two boys revealed that they had feelings for each other, secretly starting a relationship that no one else knew about, but of course, paul couldn’t shake the nagging voice in his head telling him that all of this was wrong and that ben was just using him for the amount of money his father had in his bank . sadly, their relationship was forced to a halt when paul’s father figured out that the son he spent most of his time ignoring was gay. he was quickly sent off to a conversion camp, forced to run and hide from how he truly felt.

paul’s life was flipped around after he got released from the conversion camp, where he stayed for 20 months, being forced to hide how he really felt. when he got out, he instantly went to look for ben, who he still had the biggest feelings for. luckily for paul, he was quick to locate him, the two of them reuniting as if they had never been separated. from then on, the two of them dated in secret, only revealing their relationship status to a couple of other people they could trust.

everything skidded to a halt when paul woke up to a report on the news; a flight going down. the flight his boyfriend was on. paul became angry, he became the angriest he had been in a long time. not only did he lose the man he loved, the whole life the two of them had built had been thrown down the drain. he started to look for answers, writing a book on the disappearance of the yellowjackets, waiting. waiting for months until one day, ben returned. all those months of waiting had finally stopped, the love of his life was home, he was home and he was safe.

after the legalization of same sex marriage, ben and paul eloped in a small ceremony with their nearest and dearest, finally getting the life they had talked about and longed for; shortly after, they welcomed a baby girl via surrogate, the two of them living happily together for the rest of their lives.
