In the beginning it shows a battle scene we’re there are dead bodies and what looks to have been a war. But what Jin notices is a dead dove. Doves throughout history have come to represent purity, love, kindness, peace, and act as messengers. So by the dove being dead it shows that peace and love are being destroyed in the world.

Next we have Jimin and V saying “I can’t understand what people are sayin’

Who and what do I need to follow

With each step then again grows the shadow

Where is this place I open my eyes to

Maybe Seoul or New York or Paris

I get up, unsteady on my feet” by this I think it means that in the world people tell us what we should do and who we should be, that we become lost and do know who we are. We struggle with being ourselves and what others make us out to be that a shadow becomes cast upon us and we’re unable to see our true selves.

During that time we see Jin with a cage which I believe resembles the cage that people and the world place on us where we are unable to express our true selves.

Afterwards we see RM with animals around him. This one I’m not completely sure about but I think it can be symbolic of how animals are all different and yet can come to coexist with each other peacefully, which comes to show that we as humans can too.

Once again we see Jin with the cage and multiple other ones around, but he brought the dead bird with him inside it. However as he sings “Can’t hold me down ‘cuz you know I’m a fighter

Carried myself into this beautiful prison”

The bird in the cage seems to still be alive trying to escape. This scene and the lyrics mean that when you finally realize that you are the one that put yourselves into the “beautiful prison” because you listened to those hateful people, you’ll be reborn or reawakened and that you really aren’t dead you can still live as long as you realize you don’t have to be what other want you to be, AS LONG AS YOU KEEP FIGHTING.

I think Jungkook represents a person trying to run away from who he really is. But in the end he ends up dying because he didn’t stay true to himself.

Jhopes part saying “Bring the pain

It’ll become my blood and flesh

Bring the pain

No fear, now that I know the way

Breathe on the small things

My air and my light in the dark

The power of the things that make me, “me”

Even if I fall, I come right up, scream”

I think come to explain the alternate version of Jungkook which we see later on in the MV.

Suga’s part I really don’t know about other then between him saying that he “doesn’t give an uhh” and the rest of his lyrics, that his scene maybe represents him not caring about what others say and being a light in the darkness and shining as he is.

Next is V’s part. We can see a little girl with a blindfold over her eyes looking towards a wall. V goes over to the girl and takes off the blindfold and as he does the wall opens and Jungkook awakens. V takes the little girls hand and they stare off into the unknown land. This could possibly represent that if we as Men & women of all/different races, backgrounds, personalities, etc.come together, our eyes can be opened and we can see a new better and bright future for the world.

Meanwhile, alternative Jungkook hasn’t died but still lives. Still in bondage he goes to water and sings”Where my pain lies

Let me take a breath

My everythin’

My blood and tears

Got no fears

I’m singin’ ohhhhh

Oh I’m takin’ over”

The alternate Jungkook accepts himself and knows that all the pain and conflict he faces makes him who he is. It’s his blood and tears. But he’s no longer afraid of it, but instead accepts the dark and dreary shadows that he has, because it only makes him a better person.

Next it goes back to V and the girl now ed by all of the other people. And we see Jin releasing the dove as it flies out into the new land. This shows that peace and love are the first and most important parts of the new world.

It then goes back to Jungkook who dips his locked up hands into the water and then comes out free of bondage and with a seashell in his hands. Water often symbolizes life, while according to the internet seashells can be a symbol of “birth, good fortune, and resurrection”. So I’m putting all of this together we can see that Jungkook (now accepting himself) has been reborn as new person with a new, better life.

Jungkook blows the conch (seashell) and darkness falls. We then see the all dancing in the darkness and flames.

We also see a scene of them all standing in cloaks being ed by Jungkook with the shell.

I think this might mean that they can still thrive even if shadows are being cast upon them. All of the hate and pain and suffering people have put them through no longer has a damaging effect on them but instead fuels them. And as Jungkook brings the shell it shows they are resurrected as new and better people.

It then cuts to the barren land growing rich in vegetation. And they all cross to the other side and walk up on the enormous rock formation reaching up to the sky. The dry and barren land to me represents the lack of love and kindness, however, when we come to love one another the land is no longer barren but rich. And as they walk up the rock I believe it shows that they are rising above all of the hate and negativity.

Lastly, we see Jungkook watching the doves flying in the sky. And smiling he runs after them up the rock towards the sky. Dove also are a symbol of freedom so as Jungkook chases after them happily it shows that he is now free from the pain he once suffered and is happy now. And in the end it say “NO MORE DREAM” that turn into “DREAM” which I think encourages us to dream and hope for a better future.

Overall I think the dove is most significant in the story, which was used greatly. The dove being symbolic of love, peace, purity, freedom and messengery comes to encourage and give the message that we need to love ourselves and others in order to truly be free of negativity and conflict. By loving each other we can truly find peace with one another.
