Ever since Harry Potter had come home for the summer, the Dursleys had been so mean and hideous that all Harry wanted was to get back to the Hogwarts School for Witchcraft and Wizardry. And strike it does. For in Harry’s second year at Hogwarts, fresh torments and horrors arise, including an outrageously stuck-up new professor and a spirit who haunts the girls’ bathroom. But then the real trouble begins – someone is turning Hogwarts students to stone. Could it be Draco Malfoy, a more poisonus rival than ever? My Thoughts:

There are some books which automatically receive a certain star rating because of nostalgia. Since I didn’t read the Harry Potter books for the first time until three years ago, I really don’t have any nostalgia attached to them. This book was good and I liked it, but it wasn’t extraordinary.

I’m already beginning to be frustrated with how Dumbledore doesn’t tell Harry anything. Harry is directly connected to everything going on with Voldemort and he deserves to know the gory details since he’s going to be forced into it one way or another.

Gilderoy Lockhart is also the most ridiculous character. I didn’t mind him too much because he never actually succeeds in doing anything bad, but it was a bit annoying that Hermione was fangirling over him. Like our girl Hermione is way smarter than that!

Anyway, I was bored throughout the book so it didn’t keep my attention. It’s my least favorite Harry Potter book during this reread so far (but it’s also only the second book so we’ll see).
