intro —
Today I’m procastinating doing anything
useful… hence this blog. I’m channeling
a lot of uquiz energy into this, because
these songs I’m about to reccomend you
are mostly just based off of vibes.
Basically, if you’ve read these books, you
might enjoy these tunes! I picked some of
the more popular books I’ve read, so I hope
you’ll find at least one or two we have in
common.
A little note: I don’t really listen to pop
(the closest I’ve come might be The Dø
or Doechii, and Doechii is hip-hop) so if
that’s your main genre, this might not be
your thing. I did try to not go way too ni-
che though, and these songs are definitely
well-liked by loads of people!
I’m not really a person who owns a lot
of books (yet), but I took pics
of the two I do own. For some of
these I’m reccomending one song,
but if I’m unsure I’ll reccomend two
songs with different energies.
Please let me know afterwards if this
was a hit or a total miss!
— ANIMAL FARM by George Orwell
Nylon smile by Portishead &
À l’envers à l’endroit by Noir Désir

𐂴
Off to a strong start! I know a lot
of us have read this book, and some of
us left it feeling indifferent, but others
were fascinated.
I offer you: Portishead! She has a lot
of songs with energies that loosely
remind me of the mindset this story
brings to the table, but Nylon smile
also has the right amount of suspense.
If you know that one isn’t your thing,
you might prefer À l’envers à l’endroit.
I listen to a lot of French music, so this
was unavoidable. The band was formed
in the early 80-s and I think it feels more
hopeful than Nylon smile, but also like the
fight for justice isn’t done, or something.
If someone who actually understands
French wants to point out that this is
actually about smiling puppies and
rainbow colored dolphins, please do…

𐂴
One of my favorite books of the
year so far! I think Sept Douleurs is
spot on for this one. It has no lyrics,
but it feels so similar to how I felt
while reading this! I think it’s beautiful
and devastating simultaneously.
Lwonesome tonight is obviously the
more popular song out of the two.
It’s a very tender song that makes me
think of Robin and Ramy…

Walking with a Ghost by Tegan and Sara
& Midas Touch by AURORA

If you liked this book, I think you’re a
bit annoying, so I picked out songs that
irritate me a little. These two are still in
my Liked playlist on Spotify though, so
I’m insulting myself as much as I am you.
Tegan and Sara have very unique
voices, and the rhythm of this song
is one you’ll either love or hate.
Midas Touch was written for some show,
I think, but I’ve only ever listened to it
without knowing its context. It’s not
AURORA'S usual sound, which is why
I think it’s able to match Yellowface’s
freak (I can’t keep using the words ‘vibe’
or ‘energy’… bear with me).

I had to read this one for school this
year! It was fine. If you loved it, I’m
pretty sure you’ll enjoy Time as well.
Just make sure the mood is right!
While you’re getting ready for bed after
an exhausting day would be the ideal
time to listen to this.

𐂴
Okay, okay. I did have to pull out some
pop music for this one, how could I not.
I’m absolutely not the intended audience
for Emily Henry's books, so I tried to channel
someone’s young American aunt for this one.
I don’t think I can do much wrong with
Chappell Roan? I don’t actually like this song
if we’re being honest, but it seems so fitting.
Home by Dotan is also perfect in my
opinion because it’s extremely popular,
but has enough depth in it as well.
It’s a song millions of people have probably
cried to, and I think Emily Henry’s books
could be on the way to be as unifying as
a song like that. It just might take a bit of
time.

I know I’m holding up the picture book,
but I swear I have the actual book so-
mwhere…
Kate Bush was such an obvious choice!
If you still like this book as an adult,
I think Cloudbursting is right up your
alley.

I know I was listening to this song
while actually reading the book, and
it’s just crazy how well the two go
together, so I reccomend you do the
same!
It’s sad, it’s dark, it’s suspenseful…
I hope you’ll try it out.
