Last night I found heaven it's on the tip of my tongue

Wolves at the door was made for the Senses fail album "Life is not a waiting room" which was an album made by the lead singer, and only remaining original member of the band, Buddy Nielsen about how he used to think about life as a waiting room for death.

Senses fail started in 2001 and released they're first EP "From the depths of dreams" in 2002. Senses fail would enjoy a golden age during the early 2000s with hits such as they're most well known "can't be saved" and while they didn't get much mainstream attention they were staples in the punk community and would attend the music festival warped tour a few times.

However while they enjoyed a golden era in popularity under the surface things weren't great for the lead singer Buddy, as he inherited his dads alcholism and as we hear in another song he pushed most of his original out of his life.

To my knowledge he's never spoken about this but it's implied in some old songs like "Lost and found" aswell as this one Wolves at the door and some newer ones in ing like "Stay what you are" and some dedicated songs like "'you get so alone at times that it just makes sense'," that Buddy suffers/suffered from suicidal thoughts. Some are more straightforward then others and by that I mean you get so alone outright says it point blank in the opening line.

I chose this song for my first song of the week for a few different reasons, one of the biggest reasons is how it sounds. It's loud and energetic and uncontained, as if screaming out in defiance of anyone who would try and hold it down. That could be more looking for meaning where there is none but it's just something that jumps out to me

Another reason is the lyrics which I'm not going to do a full deep dive of, at least not here. To put it in short words this song seems to be about suicidal and self deprecating thoughts (The wolves) trying to get into the singers head (the door) and singer expressing a desire to silence them.
