Let your voice reach out

the High Heavens!

I raised my wings from inside this cage,

But no matter what, I'm trapped, locked up,

I cannot do a single thing lest

I incurred the wrath of those above,

I wished for a day where I can sing

A beautiful song across the winds,

Carrying out the tune freedom,

Carrying out my cries for peace,

This here is the song of the caged bird,

One that was meant to sing worthy songs

Of success through life, but instead, sings

The woe for all the injustices,

I raised my wings from inside this cage,

Hoping one day I can soar above

The clouds, the fields, and limitless skies,

But for now, I'll have to be content,

I wished for a day where I won't sing

The madrigals of the lonely hearts,

Yearning and weeping for something that's

Out of reach, out of sight, out of mind,

This here is the song of the caged bird,

A bird that should have sung no lament,

But it is the only tune it knows

From behind the golden cage, its home,

I raised my wings from inside this cage,

Wishing for a miracle to come,

Yet it is but a pipe dream for me,

Just an impossible fantasy,

I wished for a day where I can sing

No elegy, but a rhapsody

Of people, smiling, dancing, across

The mountain tops and vast country fields,

This here is the song of the caged bird,

One that's been crying the hymn of God

Through the endless days, through endless tears,

In a world that forgot what freedom means.
