The clouds were crying
and the winds were sighing,
I cannot feel the joy
for days and for weeks,
Every day through my window
I saw the sun glow,
but it didn't spark joy,
not one bit, none at all,
I felt so bamboozled—
simply camboozled!
my heart isn't making joy,
not one bit, none at all,
There's a storm in my eyes
that kisses goodbyes,
“Oh, I can't feel joy,
not a smidge, none a smudge,”
Then comes the fateful day
when ten and ten say,
“Good meeting!”, then a wave,
then they stayed— for a while,
Candles, lit— one, two,
“A birthday, to you!”
I smiled, even for a bit,
even for a while,
The stars up above
saw my tears, then cried, “Love!”
I bit a yowl, then yelped,
then asked them, “What's wrong?”
“You, not us, who has the blues,
why sing those sad tunes?”
They asked, quite curious,
so full of why's and what's,
“Oh, nothing much,” I lied,
silently I sighed,
“How fare is the galaxy
up there with rocks and smoke?”
The stars became silent,
muttering, then went
to fetch far off friends
living up in the north,
And soon, not long after,
they came with laughter,
they brought the Brightest Star,
crying with tears of joy,
“Hello, Sirius,”
He said with a smile,
and I felt joy, then replied,
“Hello, Sirius.”
