Do you when we were kids with stars in our eyes and dreams soaring beyond the moon? Or the carefree way we imagined a world of endless possibilities? Those were the days. The days before the journey began.

Far too soon for our families liking, our time had come to enter the world. To scour the land for ourselves, searching for our hidden destinies. We started together, though our choices differed, but soon parted ways. We vowed to be rivals, strengthening our bonds, and meet again one day to face off.

Each battle. Each trial. Each obstacle in the way only made us stronger until that fateful day. The world had seemed so kind to our childish eyes but we were fools who should’ve listened.

Evil that lurked, working in the shadows, nearly consumed us. They wanted the things we couldn’t, wouldn’t, give. Thus they began their rampage. Though we won the battles then, we hadn’t won the war.

Time and time again they would resurface, each time another crack in our childhood dreams. We had come so far in our journey with hopes of meeting again. However, the lines between you and me began to fade.

When we’d stumble upon one another you would repeat the same thing, I had changed so much since the beginning. You dared to say that I was a completely different person. As our journey continued, I began to think.

Soon enough the random attacks cycled like clockwork. Each of us destined to fight a fight that wasn’t our own. The challenges we faced, harder each day, faded into a memory to be forgotten.

During our final battle with that lurking evil, I saw the truth. Pawns. We were all pawns in someone else’s grander scheme. The destinies we had dreamed for ourselves, the obstacles we faced, they weren’t of our creation.

Soon we met again, as promised, to face off against one another. Even in a world of their making, you were my greatest rival. The battle ran long, each fighting for our cracking, childhood dreams. And though I came out victorious, I had truly lost the war.

Far too soon, I knew the reality of our dreams, the dreams of their creation. We would meet again, not as rivals, but as children with stars in our eyes. Maybe they would write our destinies to follow another course but now it’s time. Time to restart.

Do you when we were kids with stars in our eyes and dreams soaring beyond the moon? Or the carefree way we imagined a world of endless possibilities? Those were the days. The days before the journey began again.

It kinda is. Inspired by those theories about Red finding out he's a game character and knowing he's simply a pawn without any control over his actions.
