Hope everybody is enjoying Summer!

Here's a little light humor for the weekend. I bet we can all relate to most of this poem. Feel free to comment, or I will assume it is a dismal failure!

I beg you read it twice, and try to feel the cadence, the rhythm as you go. Without further adeu, I bring to you: The Invasion.

There's a hornet in the room!

So now it's: Run for your life!

So quickly go and get the broom,

Before it stings your wife!

Why'd you crack the window?

Aren't you scared of bees?

Did you need to feel the wind blow?

Were you Jones-in' for a breeze?

I realize that its Summer,

And that its hot as Hell in here,

But my God is it a bummer,

Cause now the buzzings near!

I see its dangling stinger,

Just waiting to sting us all,

Its gonna run us through the wringer,

Unless we bash it on the wall!

Swing and miss, the brooms a flyin',

Swat and stamp at every turn,

Dodge and panic, for we're a dyin',

That hornets seemed to learn.

It's avoided all of our attacks,

Must see us from many angles,

How can I ever again relax,

While that horrid stinger dangles?

Thump drops the heavy book!

Flail and swoosh the broom sweeps now!

Did i get it? You go take a look,

Retreat! It's alive, somehow!

Hurry! Put on the oven mitts,

I'll move the ladder over there,

Swat it! Stamp it! Where it sits,

Look out! It's in your hair!

Oh wait, that's not the hornet, see?

The hornets on the lamp shade,

Now it's buzzing, -flying straight at me!

Run and get me a band-aid!

Now try and budge it out the door,

I'll open it, so you can fan that bee,

Don't look now, but in flew two more,

Stingers two plus one is three!

Abort! Abort! Slam the door! Hurry!

I'll shut the window too!

Were out-numbered and its time to worry!

Just what are we are to do?

Ouch! A stinger in my arm,

Another in your butt,

The triple threat has done us harm!

Help us! What the What!

Another buzzing from the attic stair?

Is that a basement hive I see?

Stick around here, -if you dare,

But I'm running out, let's flee!

Out the door, and past the lawn,

And down the block we fled.

We kept on running past the dawn,

Better alive and stung than dead!

Back at the home, like on every street,

The residents raised their brood,

And if you have a chance to meet,

You'll not believe what you have viewed!

Papa hornet on the lounge, a chillin',

Mama hornet, a makin' all the beds,

From their point of view, not villian!

Just parents of two-thousand heads!

Now snug and warm in their new hive,

These hornets only did as they were able,

Stings to us? So fearfully alive!

And the dumb humans, -still paying the cable!
