1. What is your name/name/nickname?

You can call me Kai.

2. What age group do you belong to?

(d) 23-27

3. What continent are you from?

North America

4. What is your first language? How many languages do you know?

My first Language is English.

The only other language I know a little bit of is Japanese, but it's only a very little bit. I've been trying to teach myself it for a while.

5. How did you discover this community?

I just looked up writing communities and this one seemed the place to go.

6. If you are newer here, what do you hope to do/learn/get out of this community?

I'm hoping I can meet some other creatives, maybe give myself more motivation to write, and perhaps learn about some new books to read.

7. If you’ve been here for a while, what advice do you have for newcomers?

Not applicable for me I think.

8. Do you consider yourself more of a reader or a writer?

Hard to say. Both I guess? I write little things here and there, and when reading I go through large binges and then periods of no reading, unless you count comics/webcomics, then I always have something I'm reading.

Most of my writing is related to world-building, rather than writing out scenes. What I usually write are story outlines, character backgrounds, magic systems, and fantasy world history.

The longest finished work I wrote was a script for the first book of a children's fantasy comic series (unpublished). I'm not sure if I'll finish it or not, but it was a fun experience.

9. What is your favorite kind of blog to make here (i.e. book reviews, poems, discussions...)? What is your favorite kind to read?

I think I'll have to figure that out. I think I might try starting some discussions, and possibly write some book reviews so that maybe some other people might want to read them.

As for reading, I find discussions can be interesting, depending on the topic. Short stories can also be fun to read, and book reviews/recommendations can be nice for finding new reading material.

10. What is your preferred reading age genre?

(b) Young Adult (YA)

(c) New Adult (NA)

11. What is your preferred reading genre (i.e. Fantasy, Chick-Lit, Thriller...)?

Fantasy all the way. I sometimes feel bad that it's basically all I like to read, but it's just the way it is.

12. What is your favorite book/series?

It's really hard to choose just one, so perhaps I won't.

13. Which book would you NEVER recommend to anyone?

I don't get far in books I don't like so I can't recall any titles.

14. Who is your favorite author?

Hard to choose, but possibly Terry Pratchett. I've found all the books I've read by him to be very enjoyable thus far, and I like his writing style.

15. Have you ever published a piece of writing? If so, was it self-published or traditionally published?

Not exactly. I've tried to make small animated series and comics when I was younger and put them online, though they were always left incomplete. I was really young when I made those though so I wouldn't share them with anyone.

16. What format do you prefer writing in (i.e. short stories, poems, letters...)?

I'm not sure. Most of the writing is more for myself than others. Usually I'm writing character bios/backgrounds, story outlines, or world-building. When I do write stuff intended to be shared eventually it's usually novel-format, a script (like for a comic), or character dialogue and descriptions for a game.

17. What genres do you prefer to write (i.e. FanFiction, Romance, Mystery...)?

I mainly write fantasy as well, occasionally with some romance or other genres mixed in.

18. What are some of your favorite book quotes? Any original quotes of yours that you’d like to share with all of us?

My brain unfortunately doesn't really latch onto that sort of stuff very well, so none come to mind.

19. If you were an animal, what animal would you be?

I suppose a cat. I've always liked cats and used to draw them a lot when I was younger. Also, I really liked the Warrior Cats books.

If not that then maybe a raven or crow. It would be fun to be able to fly around.

20. If you were a mythical creature, which one would you be?

A dragon I think, if I could choose. They're my favorite mythological creature. They can fly, some have magic, and they're smart. Overall, pretty cool.

21. If you could befriend a fictional character or creature, who/what would it be and why?

That's too hard to choose.

22. Have you made any friends through this community? If not quite “friends”, have you met any cool people you’d like to give a shoutout to?

I don't really know any people well yet.

23. In what age did you start reading? Did you a favorite childhood book?

I don't really. I think I started reading somewhat early. It's too hard to pick a favorite.

24. Name three books you recently finished and instantly became favorites.

Sorcery of Thorns:

I enjoyed this book way more than I expected. I was unsure at the beginning but I quickly warmed up to it. The characters are all just super fun! I was also surprised that it managed to be a satisfying one-shot. At the beginning I was sure it would be a series (mainly because that's what most other people do), but I was actually very happy with the ending.

Den of Wolves:

Part of a series that has become one of my all-time favorites. It was a good finale. The series combines both fantasy and mystery, each story involving a different magical mystery that needs to be solved.

Ruin and Rising:

Part of the Shadow and Bone Trilogy. There are some issues I had with the books, but overall I enjoyed the series.

25. Name three books you recently finished and didn’t like as much as you expected to.

I don't really finish books that I don't like for the most part.

The only book that comes to mind is a Wrinkle in Time. I heard it was a classic and had never read it before. It wasn't bad or anything, but not as good as I was hoping either. Maybe I would have liked it more if I read it when I was younger.

26. If you could live in any literary world, where would it be and why?

I really find the worlds interesting from a lot of the stories I've read, but I'm not sure many or potentially any of them would be very good to live in.

I guess the only one I can think of that might be cool would be the world of Harry Potter, just maybe not near the era when Voldemort was coming into power.

27. What book are you currently reading? Writers, what writing project are you currently working on?

Currently, I've been reading the book Wizard of Pigeons. It's been a bit slow though. I'm thinking of switching to something else.

As for writing, I switch between writing projects all the time. I have a lot of creative hobbies and work in a creative field so writing is mostly a hobby that I don't put too much pressure on myself for. Last thing I was tinkering with though was a story about people lost in the Fairy realm.

28. Do you have any other hobbies or interests?

My main hobbies besides writing are:

- game development

- drawing/painting

- piano/music

- reading comics/manga/webcomics

29. Is there anything else you’d like to tell us about yourself?

I also play a lot of video games. I play a variety of genres, mostly leaning towards simulation games, rpgs, city-builders, and management games.

Currently, I'm playing a 3D platformer called Demon Turf and it's been super fun! It reminds me of playing old-school 3D platformers like Banjo-Kazooie and Donkey Kong 64. If you grew up playing similar games I would reccomend it.
