Welcome to my Ice Breaker!

I’ve been a member of this community for almost three years, and I realized people don’t know much about me! What better way to fix that then participate in this awesome challenge?

Before we begin, I’d like to say that you can do this challenge too! The following questions I will be answering are found in this lovely blog created by our Curation Team! BaWA Welcoming Blog and Icebreaker! You guys don’t even know how lovely these people are, and what an honour it has been volunteering alongside them!

I could go on for a looong time about these amazing people :joy:

With that said, let’s begin!

I go by Shh  I’m a shy and private person!

2. What age group do you belong to?

(a) 12 and under

( :tulip: ) 13-17

(c) 18-22

(d) 23-27

(e) 28-32

(f) 33-37

(g) 38-42

(h) 43+

3. What continent are you from?

North America!

4. What is your first language? How many languages do you know?

English is my first language, though I do know a little bit of Canadian French! I’ve been studying it for seven years, though I’m not the best at it

5. How did you discover this community?

The first amino community I had ed was not this one, surprisingly. I use to be a frequent member on the Art amino! Then one day, I went on a little journey and came across Books and Writing! I’ve always had a strong ion for writing, and (at this point) I was a new reader!

6. If you are newer here, what do you hope to do/learn/get out of this community?

I’ve been here for almost three years.. oops haha!

7. If you’ve been here for a while, what advice do you have for newcomers?

Don’t be afraid of expressing yourself! Don’t second-guess if you should post this, or share that. Do it! There are sooo many ive and creative people here you can connect with!

8. Do you consider yourself more of a reader or a writer?

I really do enjoy both, but I will choose writing over reading! :book:

9. What is your favorite kind of blog to make here (i.e. book reviews, poems, discussions...)? What is your favorite kind to read?

I love sharing Writing Tips! Oh, and NaNoWriMo posts!

As for my favourite kinds of posts to read, I have no preference!

10. What is your preferred reading age genre?

(a) Middle Grade

(b) Young Adult (YA)

(c) New Adult (NA)

(d) Adult

( :tulip: ) All of them

11. What is your preferred reading genre (i.e. Fantasy, Chick-Lit, Thriller...)?

Fantasy and Romance!

Though, I’m giving Steampunk a shot!

12. What is your favorite book/series?

This is definitely a hard one. I haven’t mentioned this one before, but the With Me series by AvaViolet or Jessica Cunsolo that was originally published on Wattpad! Oh! And the Red duology by Isabelle Ronin! A Demon in Silver and Hangman’s Gate both by R.S. Ford! (I need to stop haha!)

But most of all, Fairy Tail by Hiro Mashima!

13. Which book would you NEVER recommend to anyone?

If I really had to choose, I would say Turtles All The Way Down by John Greene. I’m sure the book is good, and maybe my opinion isn’t valid since I haven’t finished it. The reason I wouldn’t recommend it is because of that reason. I’ve tried reading it wayyy too many times. It just never hooked me.

14. Who is your favourite author?

Hands down, Jenna Moreci!

15. Have you ever published a piece of writing? If so, was it self-published or traditionally published?

This is an interesting one. A few years ago, I entered two short story contests and they actually liked it, so they published it in a collection of short stories! I will it, I was surprised and I’m forever grateful! So yes, my name is out there on a story!

16. What format do you prefer writing in (i.e. short stories, poems, letters...)?

I use to practice my writing by writing short stories. I prefer writing novels now since I’ve grown as a writer, but short stories are held close to my heart!

17. What genres do you prefer to write (i.e. FanFiction, Romance, Mystery...)?

Once again, Fantasy and Romance! I read what I want to write so I can learn!

18. What are some of your favorite book quotes? Any original quotes of yours that you’d like to share with all of us?

I have two quotes on my bio that I’ll copy and paste here:

”Mistakes Aren’t What Define Us, But At This Moment, After Everything Has Gone Wrong, This Is What Defines Us —How We Pick Ourselves Back Up.”

—Aphmau MCD

”If I Finish Writing This Chapter, I’ll Reward Myself With A Slice Of Cake... Or A Slice Of Cheese... Or A Slice Of Cheesecake!

—Jenna Moreci

As for any original quotes, I don’t think I have any

19. If you were an animal, what animal would you be?

Definitely a House Cat. I’m lazy, introverted and I don’t fancy the outdoors.

20. If you were a mythical creature, which one would you be?

Maybe a House Cat with a Witch’s hat. Though, cats aren’t mythical, maybe I would be the witch’s brilliant and faithful companion. :cat2:

21. If you could befriend a fictional character or creature, who/what would it be and why?

Literally anyone from the manga Fairy Tail by Hiro Mashima. (This title and author/illustrator will be mentioned a few times)

22. Have you made any friends through this community? If not quite “friends”, have you met any cool people you’d like to give a shoutout to?

I use to have a close friend on this amino, but she sadly left the community some time ago. However, I still wish them the best!

As for shoutouts, I’ll jump back a bit in the post and gush about the Curation team again!

Like I can’t even put it into words! They are soo nice and welcoming! If you haven’t already, please check them out! They all post amazing posts with excellent quality! Instead of linking each of their pages (once again, I’m lazy :joy: ), I’m going to link the post introducing the new Curators; and both Leaders are mentioned in it as well!   The Curators and Leaders!

23. In what age did you start reading? Did you a favorite childhood book?

I wasn’t a huge fan on reading as a kid, though I didn’t mind having a book read to me. I enjoyed The Puppy Place series! As for finally reading on my own, it was around five years ago!

24. Name three books you recently finished and instantly became favorites.

• A Walk To by Nicholas Sparks

• A Hole New World by PopularMMOs (I grew up watching their YouTube channel, so it became a favourite because of nostalgia)

• Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare

25. Name three books you recently finished and didn’t like as much as you expected to.

• Ashes of Roses by MJ Auch

• Milk and Honey by Rupi Kaur (don’t get my wrong, I love this poetry book, it just wasn’t what I expected.)

• Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo

26. If you could befriend a book character, who would it be?

I’d befriend Lucy Heartfilia and Natsu Dragneel from the Fairy Tail series! (Call me basic :joy: )

27. If you could live in any literary world, where would it be and why?

Not sure if Manga counts, but I like to think it does. If I could live in any world, I would love to be apart of the Fairy Tail world! I absolutely adore this series!! Like, I can’t even verbally express it :joy:

28. What book are you currently reading? Writers, what writing project are you currently working on?

Reading wise, I’m currently reading Wicked Saints by Emily A. Duncan! I was reading The Night Circus and The Starless Sea both by Erin Morgenstern, but I haven’t picked them back up in a while.

Writing wise, it’s difficult right now for me to write for personal reasons, but I have like, three or four projects! Though, I’m focusing on one project right now!

29. Do you have any other hobbies or interests?

Knitting, drawing and painting! Maybe there’s more, but I can’t think of them.

30. Is there anything else you’d like to tell us about yourself?

I love chatting with people, so don’t hesitate to send me a message!

I like most music out there, so any song recommendations are welcome! I think music helps me with my writing! (Though, I don’t like rap music. Sorry   )

And That’s It!

I hope you all have learned something about me, and maybe we could connect!

I hope everyone is staying safe during these times! Take care and I’ll see you in the next post!

Oh my gosh, I had to force myself through Turtles All The Way Down, I’m not even sure why I did. The synopsis was totally misleading! Nice post!

Thank you!

I was really disappointed that I didn’t finish the book. Maybe one day I’ll go back and try reading it again! In your opinion, was it good?

Reply to: Shh!

I really did not like it, especially because I thought it was gonna be a more fun read. It has excellent mental health representation, but John Green’s writing just isn’t for me, and it was pretty boring :grimacing:

I like knowing that people has a different opinion. Don't get me wrong, I love it when I find a member that has some thing in common with me, but I really like seeing other people's perspective. Especially Turtles All The Way Down. I loved that book, but I can understand why it didn't hook you into it. With that one, I was offended for 0.01 seconds but I just smiled and appreciated the honest opinions.
