There are no new PSAs this month! Just a friendly reminder not to let low activity discourage you from posting and chatting with those who are still around. If Amino’s going down, it’s gonna have to drag us mods with it!

SPOTLIGHT S

└──────⋆⋅🗞⋅⋆ ──────┘

Experienced :

: Amethyst

Some of their work:

Crushing

A love letter to mother nature

Ice breaker

This has been a part of our community for three years and running now. With her expressive writing, she has had a lot to contribute towards our community activity. As an experienced on the platform, let's take a look at her perspective of things:

1. What brought you to this community and what convinced you to stay?

I liked writing short stories and just generally writing. I used to be very active on camp half-blood amino for Percy Jackson fans. But wanted somewhere to post generic stuff and not just fanfic.

What convinced me to stay has got to be the people and the response I get when I do eventually post something. It's always nice to feel welcome.

2. What have been some of your favorite moments or events in B&WA?

My favourite event has got to be either recently when I posted my latest poem, crushing. A fellow poet wrote a poem for me in response which really touched my heart that someone would care enough to do that for me.

Other than that it has got to be the first time I ed anything on here. How kind everyone was to my content is why I'm still here and I carried on writing.

3. How have you grown as a reader/writer since you first ed?

I have grown soooo much as a writer. From not really understanding what I was even writing to being able to create a poem in 20 minutes before my last counselling class of my degree and actually being able to share it in front of others publicly. I would have never kept going if it wasn't for the I got from amino. Once my dirty secret is now something I'm quite proud of doing.

4. What are some of your favorite pieces (either yours or someone else’s) and why?

Well my favourite piece at the moment has got to be the piece that @mostlyharmless wrote for me in response to my poem - To women poets, a defence.

I also thoroughly enjoyed their most recent poem - a dinner date? Such a fun and quirky idea.

My favourite poem of my own work is either insomnia or sustenance cause I feel like they're the most well written with the best metaphors.

5. Other than books and writing, what's something you enjoy doing in your spare time?

I watch a lot of TV and movies in my spare time or if I ever get the chance I'm off on hikes with friends. I love the outdoors. I adore spending time with my kitty cat, her name is Lady.

6. Anything else to add?

Thank you for ing me and my work for the past 3 years and here's to the next 3. I'm honoured to be chosen for this, it means a lot.

New Member:

: Bookgirl butterfly

Some of their work:

The queen's tiara

Madame bovary

Frankenstein

Ice breaker

This started off strong with her book reviews and has been consistently posting her work for the 4 months that she's been here. We interviewed her and here's what she had to say:

1. What brought you to this community and what convinced you to stay?

I have always loved writing and I have always loved to share what I know and read about with other people and seeing that I could do that in Books and Writing Amino made me happy. I realized that there are actually people who care about literature as much as I do and this is something that I haven't really found in reality until quite recently with two new people that I have befriended at a literature club I've been part of since 2019.

What convinced me to stay was the positive reactions I received from people who genuinely like to read my book reviews. It feels very meaningful to me and it's always fun to see my blog put on the feature feed too ^^ so basically a compilation of different factors convinced me to stay on the platform 🩷

2. What has been the most enjoyable aspect of B&WA so far?

Being able to creatively express myself through writing, publishing blogs and reviews that not only help me to the books I read, but to also share it online with people who also care about literature.

3. Are you a reader or writer (or both)? What genres do you like to read/write?

Both. I'm a book blogger and an aspiring journalist. I am working towards a lit degree right now, the last course will start in fall, and I read daily too. Mostly classics and non-fiction books.

4. What type of , blogs, activities, or events have you seen so far that inspire you to be active?

I like to see what people are asking about and think to myself how or if I can help them. I like to be helpful to other people.

5. Other than books and writing, what's something you enjoy doing in your spare time?

I enjoy swimming, taking long walks, I loooove playing horror video games on Steam. Currently I'm playing Outlast. I also love to spend time with my friends, my partner and go to my literature club.

6. Anything else to add?

No, not really.
