I love her like the river loves the sea
Every time our eyes would meet, my Heart would fill with ecstasy
And in spite of all the pain she caused
And all her wicked deeds
I love her like the river loves… loves to meet the sea
I need her
Like the body needs water to survive
Her presence in my life reassures me i’m alive
Perhaps this is some form, im sure, of codependency
But I love her like the river loves… loves to meet the sea

Hello Gentleman, this is Annie from the committee. Thank you for using our tag as well as my own personal review tag!
I loved this little gem of a poem!
It is so cute, melodramatic and makes me want to try underwater diving even though I’m afraid to sink like the Titanic. Even though it’s a poem on a screen, I could hear the waves crashing in my head. And it has an incandescent musical quality to it which seemed almost hypnotic in its conduct. This is the first thing I’ve read this morning and I marvel at the sheer exuberance it emanates. The mood and tone adds to the alluring atmosphere that manifests through your beautifully orchestrated descriptions.
The structure is good though irregular in word count in each line which I though was interesting. This by default made the flow quite seamless because you didn’t attempt to force a rhyme scheme and let it flow naturally. It further added to the charm of this piece and gave it more of a musical vibe than poetic. You took a simple concept of a river flowing into the sea and created something so meaningful and profound with it. You gave it such a sweet and nostalgic voice to this piece that I immediately wanted to reread it several times over.
I love how the entire poem follows enjambment. In a continuous stream of lines that all connect with each other to relay a fluffy, romantic trope through the personification of river and the sea meeting. There is a deep George Martin feel underlying in the writing here, if he wrote romantic poetry this would be it. I found the repetition of “I love her like the river loves the sea”, really interesting. I don’t exactly understand the purpose behind it but it wrapped the poem beautifully. There was a deep emotion of longing and fixation layered behind the lines leading up to the ending and I was able to really feel a connection there. Even though the poem is short, it manages to leave a lasting impact on the reader.
Once again, you nail the language aspect. The word choice contributes heavily to the resonance of this piece, it’s as eloquent and feel-good as ever and I commend you for maintaining that consistency. Your impeccable use of figurative language puts a believable light on the theme of co-dependency of the narrator on his object of affection. Some examples would be-
“I need her
Like the body needs water to survive
Her presence in my life reassures me i’m alive”
There is also a hint of melancholy that laces the voice of the narrator as if he is helpless to her charms or subtle manipulation, even though he is very well aware that she is capable of questionable deed. I found that dynamic very intriguing and I wonder if there is so much more to this story than the narrator is letting on.
Overall, this was a sensory treat. A well-written love story that you managed to tell in very few lines. I love it and enjoyed reading it. I particularly liked the flow of this and a vocabulary that played on the senses while emitting a vibrant cadence. It was engaging and have me wondering if there’s a deeper storyline concealed behind the love.
Thank you again for using our review tag as well as my own. It’s always a pleasure to read and review your work. I hope you're feeling happy and healthy. Wishing you a wonderful day/night! Until next time!

Thank you so much!! I thought you would like that one. Of you like I can answer some of your apparent questions about it in pms. They are not really for here though. :rose:
