Have you ever loved the title
of a poem more than the
emotion it encapsulates?
Did your heart constrict at the
beautifully crafted metaphor
which crowned the verses,
and suddenly you were a poor
child in a posh school canteen
who was only granted access to
propagate the institution's
inclusiveness, while your tattered
school pants screamed otherwise,
I know that one rich guy in class
took you under his wing, taught
you how to make rings out of the
smoke escaping your lungs and
when you finally thought you were
a step closer to friendship and
eternal warmth, he snitched on
you, leaving the tear sainted cheeks
of your parents emboldened as an
epitaph on the vicious cycle of
poverty, with the suspension rained
a plethora of opportunities you'll
never get, and your toes were dying
to get stepped on and you wished
you never fell for it in the first place
but the damage is done now, isn't it? There's no way you won't carry the aftermath of this earthquake as a
painful memory which you never
fully recite nor acknowledge because reality is mindnumbingly cruel, it
never cared about your struggles,
It knows only the truth and for a change
it wasn't afraid to wear it on its sleeve,
This is why I name my poetry in marshmellow hues and roasted peanuts, I dress it in tight corsets and overwhelming gowns trapped inside five layers of makeup, all in a predator's work day, I embroider my webs in snowflake motifs and wait, day and night, for a gentleman to get attracted to its beauty, and when they finally extend their companionship, I crush their skull between my makeshift thighs and whisper the ugly truth into their ears like Macbeth's wife, making them my puppet, stationing them in the enemy's kingdom, what started as a casual fling is now a full blown act of anarchy against the government, you, my domino block, topple the fascists with your small unseemingly insignificant contribution, until nothing remains, not you, not me, not the mighty, only a sapling of truth thrives under the cracked debris.

The transition throughout this piece is subtle, but powerful. The way the metaphor twists is lovely to read. Fantastic.
Thank you. Once again!
