Molly sat by the oven, waiting for the cake to finish. "Molly sweetheart, a watched cake never rises." Edith gently told her daughter, the young girl looked at her mother. "But mama! I cake now!" She exclaimed, Edith smiled. "It's 'I want cake now' not 'I cake now'." Edith corrected, and her daughter nodded. "Want cake!" Edith sighed heavily, her mother always insisted that Molly was a cursed child. Born on Friday the 13th, a traditionally "cursed" day. But Edith didn't care, this was her baby girl and she'd be damned if anyone else raised her.
"Now, sweetie, mommy knows you want cake, but it isn't done yet. Auntie Sabrina will be here soon, didn't you say she was the best part of today?" Molly's eyes got wide at a knock at the door.
"AUNTIE!" She cried in excitement, as Sabrina walked in, damn near tackling her aunt in the process. "Hey there little bug!" Sabrina said, picking up her young niece. "Auntie! Cake!" The child cried, and Sabrina nodded. "Cake hm? Is it done yet?"
"In Fact it is!" Edith said, carrying in a medium sized sheet cake, decorated with black cats in witch hats. "CAKE!" The young girl cried out, pushing herself out of her aunt's arms and onto the floor. There's only one thing Molly loved more than her aunt, and that was cake.
Molly sat anxiously awaiting, as the lights dimmed. Happy birthday was sung by her mother and aunt, with a deep breath she blew out the six flickering candles. Once removed, Molly got the biggest slice Edith knew she could reasonably eat.
"CAKE!" She exclaimed before shoving a fork full of the sugary delight into her mouth. A wide smile on her frosting covered face.
