#Soundtracks :warning: warning intimacy, language, darkish themes :warning:

This was a collaborative effort between me and the amazing solaris^^

( yes two versions, their alternate endings :smiling_imp: if you like this one then I suggest you go check out the other one! )

this was based on the song "choke" by idk how but they found me

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Atlas made his way over to where Hale had been pinned beneath a fallen beam in the burning mansion. His usually white hair was now a stark gray.
"Do you really think that this would make you go down in history? That-," Hale started, but before he could finish Atlas interjected.
"Shut... up... HALE!! You know nothing! YOU KNOW NOTHING OF WHY I DO WHAT I DO! Dont try and act all high and mighty, like you haven't done bad things in the name of good and shit. I KNOW what you do when you think no one is looking!" Atlas laid a hand over his face covering one eye, and with the hand holding a sword he dragged it lightly across Hale's face.
  "I've been watching you." His voice going deathly quiet. He was just barely audible above the crackling of the roaring flames.
  "You creep." spat Hale. He turned his head away from the blade, almost daring Atlas to cut the soft skin of his neck. The words and defiant actions sent a thrilling chill through Atlas's body. He wanted to hear more, and he always got what he craved.
  "It's such a shame that it had to be like this, darling. Tch... such a waste of your pretty little face." Atlas cooed.
  His dress shoes click as he walked around his fallen opponent. Flames paraded around them as the villain tilted Hale's chin up with the tip of his sword. Despite his pitiful state, Hale's eyes were filled with ion and determination. Something stirred inside Atlas, as always when looking into his enemy's eyes. He convinced himself it was hatred. For what else could it possibly be?
"Tell me, dearest... Where oh where are your little friends?"
"They'll be here, don't you worry..." Hale managed to cough out. He grinned defiantly up at the man currently holding his life in his hands. There was a little flutter in his chest at the sight of his enemy's smirk. He wrote it off as a side effect of the smoke.
Atlas chuckled, which turned into a cackle, and before he could get it under control, his whole body was seized by loud, genuine laughter. He doubled over, tears emerging from his eyes. His sword is now withdrawn from Hale's neck.
"Oh, you poor fool, if they were going to show up.. don't you think they'd already be here?!" Atlas exclaimed, throwing his arms out on either side of him. It was then that a realization hit Hale. He... He was right. The two had been fighting for what? An hour at least? And his so-called friends were nowhere to be found. What happened to their plan? Why weren't they here..?
  "We've had such fun by ourselves though, I can't say that I'm too dissatisfied myself, I just can't seem to get you out of my mind... You consume my entire being and, well... I must confess it's becoming quite the problem."
  Hales's heart fluttered and his face flushed hard, but that was surely due to the heat.
  "They will be here! I trust them with all my heart. They would never abandon me!" Though he didn't believe that was true anymore.
  Atlas looked down on him with a cold smug grin.
  "Oh you sweet little thing, you truly think that good always wins. That someone will come at the last second to save you. No one will little mouse, that ideal seems so..... juvenile. Especially coming from someone as... intelligent as yourself." With these words, Atlas crouches down to meet the pale blue eyes, starting with such opposition. He took Hale's chin, holding it between his thumb and forefinger.
Shock at the realization of what the Atlas was saying slammed into Hale like a bullet to the heart.
"No, they... They have to come we... We were a team..."
"Some team." Atlas levels his gaze with Hale's, their nose only inches apart. "I'm all you have left sweetness"
  Atlas moves his head so that his lips brush against the shell of Hale's ear.
  "You're going to die here, love" Atlas whispered huskily. "You're going to lay here, waiting for help that will never come."
Hale shuddered. A chill ran up his spine as he listened to the voice of his greatest enemy. He could feel his breath on his skin, slightly labored from the smoke. As Atlas pulled away, he gazed into Hale's eyes. He could see the fear in them. It wasn't the usual type of fear. It was stranger. Darker. It didn't give Atlas the same satisfaction.
  Why? Why was this time different? This is what he had always wanted. For this stuck-up little hero to die and be out of his way. Out of his thoughts for good. No one left to foil his plans.
  The way Hale's body shivered despite the fire ablaze in Atlas's family home was different. It didn't give his stomach the usual knots of excitement.
It did give him an idea. Leaning in, Atlas pressed his ashen lips against the soft smooth ones of Hale.
  Hale gasped, his eyes flying open wide. Giving Atlas the perfect opportunity to slip in his tongue. A moment or two ed before Hale regained his senses. Rage flooded through him. Uncontrollable and raw. He bit Atlas's tongue, and the copper taste of blood filled his mouth. Atlas jerked away and fell back on his hands. A trickle of red liquid ran down the corner of his mouth.
"YOU INSOLENT LITTLE FOOL!" Atlas bellowed. He stood, shaking with suppressed rage.
"HOW DARE YOU DO SUCH A THING! HOW DARE YOU DISRESPECT ME IN SUCH A WAY!?"
Atlas breathed heavily, leaning down and wrapping his hand around Hale's neck, squeezing hard. Hale gasped and tried to fight back, but was far too weak to do much. The terror in his eyes... It made Atlas sick to his stomach. But why?
"I could end it all right now.." he murmured. Slowly, his grip eased. "But I won't. I'm going to let you suffer... Just as I have for so long. And you're going to spend your last moments plagued by thoughts of me. I'm going to be the last face you see..."
Hale's eyes were suddenly filled with tears, and not just from the smoke. He realized that what Atlas said was true. This was it. They reached the end of the road.
He was going to die.
"Please." Hale managed to force out, but that was all he could say.
"Goodbye, love. It's been fun." Atlas said as he stood. With one last, lingering glance, he flicked his long black hair over his shoulder and walked away. His footsteps slowly fading. Beating along with the throbbing ache in his heart.
Finally, after managing to find a safe way out, he watched from the outside as everything he held dear went up in smoke. He had won. He should be happy. At long last, there was no one to stand in his way. No more playing cat and mouse.
So why did he feel so hollow? Why did his chest ache and eyes water? Why did he want to scream and cry when he should be jumping for joy? It hit him then.
At that moment, everything made sense. There was clarity at long last. He looked on too late, with an agonized look on his face as he watched his home burnt to cinders.
  Along with the only man he had ever loved.
