Hermann, The Sworn Blade is one of the five knights of grim, the loyal guard of king Richard, The Grim King. (Nowadays King Richard, The Damned.) He's a knight of justice and very much known to be the strongest man in the kingdom. Which is one reason, besides being a skilled and experienced warrior, that he is the one in charge of the guards.

His Nationality is resembling the German one quite well. In fact, it's German as far as it gets. He brought many victories back to his king, which he adores a lot. He and the king got a relative good friendship. However, after one fateful night, something invaded the castle, without alerting any guards, and put a curse upon the kingdom. Most citizens and guards had been turned into gruesome, undead-like monsters. The only ones that were left was the knights of grim. The five knights observed the situation that abruptly had occurred in the blink of an eye. They did know, something was off. The knights elegantly fought through those they considered friends up to the throne room where the knights encountered a strange creature. It looked like a three headed beast with four arms and two legs. And next to it sat the lifeless body of the king, the one the knights adored the most. Upon seeing such disgrace, the knights, enraged, go into battle against that.... thing they never saw before. And because of the lack of knowledge their fate was sealed all along.

The creature easily slaughtered them, one by one until just Hermann was the only one left. He fought to the end, with all the power he had, but also died. Crushed under the heavyweight of one of the beasts claws. The kingdom was gone. Unable for mere mortals to through the dark barrier that hides the kingdom from the rest of the world. But after 142 years, the barrier weakened. Making it possible for mortals to through. Legends say, whoever conquers the damned kingdom, they shall recieve its hidden treasure.

Now, after all these years, the knights of grim as well as the king, came back alive. Or.. unalive if you like. Corrupted, the knights of grim stray all over the kingdom, waiting for someone to come by. So they either kill them, and bring glory to their king, or will be freed from their curse. The only solution to cleanse the kingdom is to defeat the damned king.
