Hello, birbs of the jungle. I want to let you know that 2 weeks ago, The Rio community found 2 new Rio concept storyboards that's been released in the Internet. One showing a 2.5 minute clip while the other were 2 drawings of a plot. The thing with these two is they are Rio 3 storyboards made by Blue Sky Studios!!
According to Blue Sky studios, the goal of these storyboards were to provide ideas for the plot of what could've been Blue Sky's Rio 3 film. Unfortunately due to blue sky studio's shutdown back in 2021 & the concept work to be released. The scenes in what could've been Rio 3's plot are no longer valid. Chances if Disney/20th century were to continue the franchise, it is most likely that we will not get to see this specific scene anywhere in their Rio development or in Rio 3
The former Blue sky storyboard artist, Lubomir Arsov owns a website where he archives all of his artwork besides the Rio development. There shows proves that they had "minimum design and no screenplay" meaning they're just for creativity, just for fun.
As these storyboards are here, this still leaves us a lot more questions than answers, like this doesn't solve if it's official for Rio 3 being under development or what's the deal with the Rio spin off?
Well to put it in a few sentences, We don't know if Disney will develope a new Rio sequel as they're currently working on Ice Age 6. We do know that Disney mentioned in a production document of Ice Age's spinoff Buck wild that another Rio installment is on the way, many are unsure what is meant by this as many assume it's Rio 3.
My answer is, it's most likely the Rio spin off because this will fall under Disney +, meaning it'll most likely be a streaming movie, same thing as the Ice Age spin off. But who knows...
