The Luckiest Man

YOUNGBAE ONE SHOT

She stared at me with her mouth slightly open... I returned her gaze with a smile but my lips were shaking with anxiousness.

Is she going to reject me?

I was starting to think of what to say in order to take back what I just confessed...

Maybe I am moving way too fast for her or maybe she doesn't feel the same way...but then a smile slowly made its way on the side of her lips that made my heart beating furiously in my chest.

She then placed a hand on the side of my face, leaned her forehead on mine as she slowly closed her eyes.

And just like that...without any words spoken she made me the happiest because I knew she felt the same way.

"I don't know anymore..." she said, her voice shaking as she cast her gaze downwards.

I cupped her face and made her look at me "Mianhae babe...mianhae."

She shook her head and said again "I honestly don't know anymore..I understand how busy you are but I rarely see you." She sighed and said "I don't think this is going to work..."

"No. Don't say that." I begged "I know how hard this is for you but please don't let go. "

Tears started streaming down her cheeks which I instantly wiped with my thumb. My heart is breaking with the way she was looking at me...seeing the pain and tiredness in her eyes broke me.

"Don't let us go." I whispered as I leaned my forhead on hers, pleading her to hold on.

With tears in her eyes she asked "Are we going to make it?"

I nodded saying "Yes we are...and we will."

She took a deep breath, closed her eyes and nodded. I release a breath I didn't know I was holding in and gave her a lingering kiss on her lips.

That scared the life out of me...I thought I was loosing her. And I know I almost did. But I made sure to make it up to her everyday ever since...she deserved nothing less.

"Hey babe, how is the tour?"

I can picture her smiling at me on the other line.

I smiled at the thought and answered "It's great babe. VIPs warmly welcomed me as always." I sighed wanting nothing else but to be beside her already.

"Are you ok?" came her worried voice.

I didn't want her to worry so I immediately answered "I'm all right babe....just tired I guess. I'm off to the airport right now."

There was silence on the other line for a couple of seconds that I had to check my phone if she was still on when I heard her whisper

"Bogoshipu..."

Warmth instantly enveloped me and my heart started beating faster.

"I miss you more." I answered smiling.

"There you go." she said.

"Hmmm?"

"I can already picture your smile"

She really knows how to lift my mood with her words. I am lucky to have her.

"Thank you babe. I can't wait to see you when I get back." I answered not being able to remove the smile on my face.

"Me too. take care of yourself ok?." she answered.

I nodded and said "Saranghaeyo"

"And I love you too." she whispered back.

I've had doubts in my life.

Doubt in my capabilities as an artist...if songs I've written are good enough, or if the way I was singing was giving justice to the song, or if the crowd enjoyed my performance...

But as I look at the box in my hand, I am certain that this is what I want.

As I opened the tiny box and ired the shining piece of jewelry that held my future, I am certain..she's everything I've ever wanted.

~~~ Present time ~~~

I don't know how many deep breaths I already took to calm my nerves.

I fixed the bow tie around my suit for the nth time already and yet I feel like it's still out of place.

I wiped my forehead with the back of my hand as bids of sweat started to form. God why is it so hot?

I was starting to loosen my bow tie as I felt suffocated when there was a gentle pat on my shoulder as Ji-yong whispered "She's here Youngbae. She's here."

And just like in the music videos we make...just like in the movies...everything started to move in slow motion.

A slow song started playing and everyone was looking in her direction. I slowly lift my gaze and finally saw her..I held my breath in awe as I saw the love of my life walking in the aisle towards me.

She was beautiful as ever with her long white bridal gown trailing behind her. She smiled at me as our eyes met and my heart swelled with happiness.

I inhaled sharply at the overwhelming feeling inside me...I bit my bottom lip to suppress it but tears started streaming down my face.

This is really it...we are finally here...

The road we had together all these years was sometimes bumpy but we fought hard to get here.

There were times when we were no longer sure of what's ahead but we held each other's hand and faced everything head on.

The day she agreed to date me, I kept telling myself how lucky I am that she felt the same way.

The times I thought I was loosing her with my shortcomings and yet she stayed had me convinced that I am lucky to have someone like her who understands.

And as I stare at the eyes of my stunning bride, I now agree...

I am indeed the luckiest man, because today I get to finally make her my wife. :heart:
