The First Day PT.1

Two people sat in an office; alone, simply talking to one another amongst multiple files with the pictures of young adults on all of them. The woman, who was dressed in clothes, representing the rank of a Mother Superior; picked up the file with a curly haired girl, reading it with a grimace. "Aurum, please explain to me why you took it upon yourself to edit the criteria for entry this year? At first when it was just your wards, the council could look the other way. We even did it for the Tenebrose children but most of our donations comes from families; who won't take kindly to their children going to school with anyone, willing to apply; you even have bandits attending."

At this, the man named Aurum, smiled, seemingly unbothered by his guest's statement. "Helia, you know as well as I do that that rule could possibly be more outdated. Hunters should be able to come from all over and we're the only Kingdom that looks at pedigree and you can't even tell me why. Now, there's no reason to believe that my son, this Indaco girl and the children from the noble family's won't get along." Helia, just sighed and rubbed the bridge of her nose; she seemed about to say something when the clock on the wall began ringing. "Ooh!" Aurum, suddenly shouted; it's fifteen minutes before the initiation begins, how about you stay and watch the show?"

As this meeting was going on; one of the potential first years and the protagonist of this tale was currently, being berated in the schoolyard by a woman that seemed to be a teacher. "Dammit, Slate; you were told to dress professionally, an allowance to do just that and you spent it on a new hoodie? This is not helping you any!" The teacher said before suddenly storming off and leaving the young man there. Feeling, like he'd started mes before the day even started; he heard someone sucking air through their teeth, sarcasticly. "Sheesh, I didn't know the teachers here were that gung-ho about the clothing that were wore here." And that was the moment that Slate had met the strangest girl he'd ever met. Chewing on something that she seemed to be pulling out of a box, she introduced herself. "Hey, I'm Lila Indaco...uhh; want a bagel?" She asked with a mouth full of food.
