What to do with fish during natural disaster?

There was a tornado warning in my area (its all safe and in the clear), and I had no idea what to do with my bettas. This may be a silly question with a clear answer, but what do I do? Put them in the container they came in? The thing with that is that they would have to be in there for awhile and get stressed because I would have no where else to put them. I dont want to just leave them there, but on the other hand I dont want to put myself in danger. I know people think its “just a fish” but I care about them and want them to be safe. I need to know for the future. Thanks.

In a tornado warnings I have an access to the basement, it go normally you have to go outside walk down under my deck and enter. With the zoo I have, I have large circle snap lid containers. I'd put the boys in them and take them with me along with the dogs and cats.

Use could use critter keepers in the reptile section of the pets store for them when in that situation. I have been in the same situation and i would think it would take to long to catch them in my opinion maybe do it in advance of severe weather and if nothing happens just put them back in there tank

I’ve never been in this situation, but portable/temporary housing containers may be the way to go. Pet stores sell them at a fairly cheap price and I’m sure you’ll be able to find a good size for your bettas since they generally come in a wide variety.
