Unfortunately, as you guys know, Vulcan ed away while I was on vacation.

Vulcan began slowing down a couple months ago, his color began to fade and he just didn’t seem like himself. After a 2-3 months of this, he began pineconing, and eventually ed away. We suspected that he had something internally going on like a tumor growing slowly and pressing on his organs. I’m not 100% sure if that was it, but it must’ve been something along those lines.

I tested his tank’s water and everything appeared to be in line. I also wondered if it was a diet change that caused this, but I find that unlikely since he began fading away before I changed up the diet a tad. I wish I knew for sure what caused it, but I wasn’t home at the time to perform an autopsy. :confused:

Vulcan was by far, the prettiest king betta I’ve ever seen. His colors were so gorgeous and fairly unique for a king. His personality was wonderful as well, he looked like a grumpy bulldog, but he was really just a gentle giant (towards humans anyway). He had one heck of a ferocious side though, he was never afraid to give off a huge flare whenever there was another betta in sight. His tank looks so sad now that he’s gone, he truly completed it with his gorgeous blue and orange!
