Greetings, BKA - we meet again.

A few months ago, I ed this Amino by the name of Daniel. I had a betta named Irwin whose health was rapidly failing; he was always on the weaker side from the time I got him, but despite my best care efforts, his health began to worsen over time. He developed fin rot that refused to heal, and ultimately he was forced to battle dropsy. I tried my best to help him, but I inevitably had to put him down.

Being involved in this Amino, seeing everybody's beautiful, healthy, happy bettas - it was painful to watch while my poor Irwin was turning grey, while his fins eroded and his scales began to raise. My tireless efforts to treat him were in vain. I was a doctor on the medical team, too. Helping people to help their fish was - and is - a ion of mine. But the stress of trying to heal others' bettas while failing to heal my own made me feel like I was drowning. Seeing happy and healthy bettas made me hurt, seeing sick and struggling bettas made me hurt. I needed to leave.

Having said that - night must always fall before the sun can rise. I may have lost Irwin, but I now have an amazing new betta who I can't wait to share with you. I look forward to participating in this community and enjoying everybody's brilliant fish again - I hope you will enjoy mine, too.

Welcome back! I also lost a fish to dropsy... it's hard trying your best just to watch things tumble down hill..

You just have to thank the time you did have with your fish buddy, and know you've done everything you could to help him
