Quarantine and Goodbye Toby :cry:

So, as some of you may know, I have been at college, doing my thing. I started working last week with an on campus job, which is kinda irrevelent, but whatever.

So today, out of the blue, I get a call that they are quarantining my entire floor of the dorm. When I asked why, they said it was because they were testing people on my floor (because the floor above us also got quarantined) and too many of them tested positive for COVID-19. Im a bit of a loner, so I am really frustrated how even though I follow the rules and avoid people, I am still being punished for other people's mistakes.

But anyways. I will be moved to a hotel room where I will be quarantined for 14 days. This is the part y'all are probably interested in.

WHAT AM I GOING TO DO WITH THE FISH???

Luckily, the hotel will allow me to bring fish. But I will not be able to take my planted 5 and 10 gallon tanks on a shuttle with all my other stuff. So my poor fish will be living in jars for the next 14 days. Ill make sure to do 50% water changes daily, and i gave them each some plants to help oxidate the water and for them to hide in.

However, I have a lot to carry, and certainly cant carry 3 half gallon jars safely (Sushi, the rasboras, and Toby), and I was going to euthanize him tonight anyways, so I had to quickly put him out of his misery as soon as I returned to my dorm room. It hurts a lot, I was gonna give him a little funeral, and make a really nice post for him, but then this popped up and ruined my day :pensive:

SIP Topaz, I will miss you. You were so handsome and energetic. Im so sorry we had to part in this way. As my first betta, you will always hold a place in my heart. You helped me cheer up when times were rough, and even though I made mistakes on your care, you stayed strong and helped me learn about caring for bettas. You helped me find a new hobby that I absolutely love, and had me obsess over every single thing about bettas, from proper tank size to spawning. Thank you for being such a wonderful pet. I hope you are happily swimming around fish heaven with all that you could ever want. I love you :heartpulse:

I buried him in a succulent plant I bought specifically for him. Although it doesnt show up on camera, it has a soft dusting of blue, to match Toby's scales
