So. I guess the back wall is very scary. So in order not to keep stressing him tonight I'll do what I can to block most of the back wall so he can relax.
My new Betta has issue with the back wall

I recommend some silk or live stem plants to be planted along the walls. They block a lot of reflections and light.
Water wisterias, ludwigia repens, cabomba, and bacopa are my go to plants.

Alright thanks! This is live planted tank so I can definately pick up some more.
Do u have a background on the tank? If so I would move it or move him into another tank ik backgrounds can stress them out an make them flare. Thats if you other plan don't work trying to block it.

Only kinda related but I have a gray towel hanging from the back to reduce sunlight (near a window and I’m trying to prevent algae). Is this okay?

As long as your betta isn't constantly flaring im sure it will be fine

Alrighty! Good to know.
I wonder if he just wants to explore the roots, and is flaring because he can’t?

I dont know. I'm gonna be scrapping the algar off the walls along with snail eggs so maybe he doesnt like I

I just had a snail lay eggs on my tank lid about two weeks ago, and while I was deep-cleaning the tank, it slipped and cracked  my poor betta’s been in a bowl ever since, but I’m gonna upgrade him to a 10-gallon next weekend
