This pretty boy is our new betta from @spacecityfish! He’s a red (duh) samurai HMPK. I had been promising my husband, Ryan, that he would get to choose our next betta for a while now, but couldn’t make that happen until recently. He’s been helping me with the fun tank maintenance - testing & cycling, adding water care products, assisting during water changes, etc. and I’m hoping to get him to the point where he’ll take over the weekly water changes on this guy’s tank… We’ll see lol :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Anyway, things FINALLY fell into place and Ryan picked out this handsome fella! He also got the honors of naming him (with some assistance), so he chose a name that came from Skyrim’s dragon language - Vahlok. We both grew up playing Skyrim, so naturally, we had to go with a name related to that. In the game’s dragon language, ⁣⁣”Vahlok” means "Guardian”

⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣In this short time that we’ve had Vahlok so far, we’ve already had a lot of fun interacting with him together. He’s a very spunky little guy with a decent bit of attitude when he’s brave enough to show it! I’m really looking forward to watching him grow, but I’m also looking forward to watching my husband grow in this hobby as well. I’ve gotten so much enjoyment already just from watching Ryan show interest in something that I’ve loved for years, it’s truly a heartwarming thing to see! :heart:

His Tank

A beautiful Fluval Spec V (5 gallons). It’s definitely a work in progress. I’ve got some more plants on the way and I think I’m going to get a different light for it because I hate the one it currently has. I still love it so far, though!
