Alright, I had a bit of a rough day yesterday :joy: was gonna post some awesome pictures of Toby I took, but then it deleted and didnt send, and then later that day I finally went to order my mahachai betta pair online and all 3 of my sources fell through :sob: :sob:

So anyways, the main point of this post is that I have a 10 gallon tank that Ive cycled, and I was wondering what y'all thought I should do. The poll is a bit limited, so dont be afraid to type in the comments, I need some more ideas!

Yeah it was some type I’ve never seen before ? Was a brownish tint and had red , not at all as shiny or chrome/reflective but maybe was stressed.

I think I’ll go and see if they are still there!

Can you really keep two together??? Male and female? Won’t it stress or death?

Nah, as long as you have 10 gallons and some hiding places, they should be fine. But be warned: wild betta are very prolific :joy: theyre easier to breed due to being in the same tank, although u can maybe try letting them survive in the tank like guppy fry.

Live plants and IAL sometimes introduce microorganisms to the tank that the fry can eat, or u can buy special live fry food if you want. The parents will also not eat their young and can grow in the same tank, but youll need to separate em as they get bigger, as the males tend to fight once older.

Also, you should learn what species of betta you want to get. Some are pretty delicate and need acidic water, like mouthbrooders and the small underwater bubblenesters. Tho most surface bubblenesters are pretty hardy, depending on what water ph theyve been kept in. If going from acidic to more alkaline, id definitely use a drip system to slowly get them acclimated to the new tank.

Gosh, I write too much :joy: :joy: i could make an info sheet about wild bettas at this point

I have driftwood and IAL in the tank  just dont see any ph dropping. I dont want to change the ph too much, as if its stable theyll be fine. As a relatively new fishkeeper im trying to keep it simple :ok_hand:

Ill hopefully get some mouthbrooders in the future tho, I love them!

You can add apple cider vinegar to the tank? I havent read anything like that! Is it what ppl use to get rid of the stains at the water level on the glass, or is that something else? Just curious :joy:
