About Durnehviir

Durnehviir was a very ferocious, yet adorable little girl. Even though she was tiny, it seemed like she wasn’t afraid of anything. I had her for only a short time due to an unfortunate filter mishap, but I was able to spend about 8 joyful months with her.

I didn’t really pick Durnehviir out since she was a rescue. All I knew was that I was taking in 3 mystery bettas from a sketchy setup, and she was one of them. Before ing my family, she was housed in an undivided 20 gallon with two males. Additionally, the tank hadn’t had it’s water changed for over two years. I’m still amazed that she wasn’t injured worse or dead due to this saddening scenario. On top of everything else, she and the other bettas were just going to be put down if no one took them in since the owner didn’t want them anymore.

Durnehviir’s favorite food was brine shrimp. Like all my other bettas, she would absolutely inhale them. My favorite memory with her was overall just watching her transformation. It was very pleasing to see her beauty come out after all she had been through!

As you will see in the photos below, she had some permanent ray damage on her caudal fin from where one of the other bettas bit her. Before I got her, she was bullied the most, especially by the larger male, Sahrotaar. In most cases, she was able to flee thanks to the 20 gallon’s spaciousness. But unfortunately, one time she didn’t swim away quite fast enough and she had the scar to prove it. Despite this, she was still a very adorable little girl and I loved her so much!
